Okay, so today I decided to hit the golf course. Not just any course, mind you, but the one where Yan Liu often plays – figured I’d try to channel some of that good juju.
Getting Started
First things first, I dusted off my clubs. They hadn’t seen the light of day in a while, so they needed a bit of a clean. Then, I packed a bag with the essentials: balls, tees, a glove (gotta protect those hands!), and plenty of water. It was a scorcher out there!

The Practice Range
Before heading to the first tee, I spent some time at the driving range. Warmed up with some easy swings, just trying to get the feel of it. My first few shots? Let’s just say they weren’t exactly going where I wanted them to. More like “anywhere but straight”.
- Swinging with the irons – felt okay, but the distance was a bit off.
- Tried the driver – whoa, that was a wild ride! A couple of slices, a few hooks… definitely needed more work.
- Chipped a few balls onto the practice green – surprisingly, those were pretty decent!
On the Course
Feeling (somewhat) confident, I finally start my round game.
The front nine was a mixed bag. I had a couple of decent drives, but my short game was letting me down. I struggled to get the ball close to the pin, and my putting was, well, let’s just say it needed some divine intervention.
The back nine was a little bit better, I started to get the hang of the green’s speed, and as a result, my score wasn’t as painful to look at.
The End Result
Did I play like Yan Liu? Absolutely not. Did I have fun? You bet! It was a great day out, and I definitely got some good exercise. I need way more practice but it’s okay.
I recorded my score, but I’m not going to share it here – some things are better left unsaid. Let’s just say there’s plenty of room for improvement. Next time, I’m aiming for a lower score, and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of that Yan Liu magic will rub off on me.
