Alright, let’s talk about this wrestling stuff, the WWE in Raleigh, North Carolina, you know, that thing all the young folks are crazy about. I heard they had a big show, a “Raw” they call it, on March 18, 2024, at some place called PNC Arena. Sounds fancy, huh? They say it was the first time in ten years they had somethin’ like that in Raleigh. Ten years! That’s a long time, even for an old hen like me.

Now, I don’t know much about these wrestlers, all them muscles and yelling. But my grandson, he’s always yappin’ about it. Becky somethin’ and Nia somethin’, fightin’ like cats and dogs, he says. Apparently, it’s a big deal, part of somethin’ called “Road to WrestleMania.” WrestleMania, now that sounds like a real ruckus! Heard it’s gonna be in Philadelphia this year, big shindig, two whole days of it. Then next year, they’re doin’ somethin’ called “SummerSlam” for two nights in New Jersey. These folks sure like to wrestle!
- WWE RAW in Raleigh: March 18, 2024, at PNC Arena. Big fight with Becky Lynch and Nia Jax.
- WrestleMania: April 6th and 7th, 2024, in Philadelphia. Two-day event.
- SummerSlam: August 2nd and 3rd, 2025, in New Jersey. Another two-day thing.
My grandson, he tried explainin’ it all to me once. Said there’s different shows, “Raw” on Mondays, “SmackDown” on Fridays, somethin’ called “NXT” too. And then these big events like WrestleMania and SummerSlam. Sounds like a whole lotta hoopla if you ask me. He watches it on TV, somethin’ called USA Network, I think. Says it comes on at 8 o’clock at night. Heard they show it in Canada too, and even all the way over in England and India! My goodness, wrestling’s gone international!
Anyways, this WWE Raleigh show, they say more than 12,000 folks went to see it. That’s a whole lotta people, more than you’d see at the county fair, I reckon. They must be makin’ a pretty penny off all this wrestlin’. Tickets, they say, you gotta buy tickets to get in. And not just for this Raleigh show, they got shows all over the place. My grandson, he’s always lookin’ up where they’re gonna be next. He’d go to every one if he could, I bet.
They got these fellas, big as barns, and the ladies ain’t no pushovers neither. They jump around and slam each other, yellin’ and carryin’ on. It’s all a show, you know, like them plays they used to put on at the town hall. But these fellas, they put on a good show, I’ll give ‘em that. My grandson, he jumps around too, when he’s watchin’. Hollers and cheers, gets all worked up. It’s somethin’ to see, even if I don’t quite understand it.
They say this PNC Arena in Raleigh is a big place, holds a lot of people. I ain’t never been there myself, too old for all that commotion. But I heard it’s somethin’ else, all lit up and loud. And this wrestling, it’s loud too. All that bangin’ and crashin’, the music blarin’. It’s a wonder them fellas don’t go deaf. But the crowd, they love it. They eat it up, like candy, my grandson says. He’s always tellin’ me about the different wrestlers, their names and what moves they do. It’s all gibberish to me, but he seems to enjoy it, so that’s all that matters.

So, if you’re into this wrestling stuff, sounds like Raleigh was the place to be back in March. And if you missed it, well, don’t you fret. They’ll be wrestlin’ somewhere else soon enough. Just gotta keep an ear out, or ask my grandson. He knows everything about this WWE. It’s his whole world, seems like. Me, I’ll stick to my gardenin’ and my soaps. But it’s nice to see the young folks havin’ fun, even if it’s a little bit crazy. And this whole Road to Wrestlemania thing, it sounds like it’s important for these wrestlers, whatever that means.
