Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this wrestling stuff, this “NXT” thing they got on TV. I heard they had some kinda trouble in St. Louis, some broadcastin’ problems, like.
The CW Network, that’s where they show this wrestlin’, see. Folks were all excited to watch, ya know, but seems like somethin’ went wrong in St. Louis. Channel 11, KPLR, they decided to show the news instead. Can ya believe that? People wanna see some wrestlin’, not some blabberin’ news people.
Now, they say the first show on this CW, it did pretty good. Almost 670,000 folks watched. That’s a whole lotta people, even if I can’t count that high myself. They had this match, a “Last Chance Qualifier” for somethin’ called the “Iron Survivor Challenge.” Sounds tough, like them iron skillets I got in the kitchen, only with more fightin’.
- First Show Viewers: Near 670,000
- Second Show Viewers: 593,000
- Problem: Local News on KPLR Channel 11 at the same time as NXT
But then, the next week, fewer folks watched. Only 593,000 this time. Maybe it’s ’cause of that news mess in St. Louis. People get confused, ya know. They turn on the TV, expectin’ wrestlin’, and they get some fella talkin’ ’bout the weather. Makes a person wanna switch it off, go do somethin’ else.
They had this fella, Randy Orton, he was wrestlin’ in St. Louis. Fought against some young guy, Je’Von Evans. And there was this other match, a “triple threat” thing. That means three fellas fightin’ at once, I guess. Evans was in that one too, along with some other fella named Page. Lots of fightin’, that’s for sure.
WWE, they sent out a message, a “press release” they call it. Said the first show was a big success. Well, maybe so, but they gotta fix that St. Louis problem. People wanna watch their wrestlin’ without the news gettin’ in the way. It ain’t right, makin’ folks miss their stories ’cause of some local news. This wrestling, it’s like a story, ya know? Good guys, bad guys, lots of thumpin’ and hollerin’.
I don’t know much about these TV networks, mind you. Back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy stuff. But I know what I like, and I like a good story. And wrestlin’, well, that’s a story you can see with your own eyes. So, they better get this sorted out, or folks gonna get tired of waitin’ and find somethin’ else to watch. Maybe them soap operas, those are kinda like wrestlin’ too, just with more cryin’ and less punchin’.
And this here “NXT,” it’s supposed to be the new wrestlin’, the young fellas learnin’ the ropes. But if folks can’t even watch it, what’s the point? They gotta make sure everyone can see it, no matter where they live. Even in St. Louis, with their news gettin’ in the way.
So, here’s the deal, WWE folks, if you’re listenin’: Fix that broadcastin’ problem. Let folks watch their wrestlin’. Don’t be messin’ around with the news. Give the people what they want, and they’ll keep watchin’. That’s just plain common sense, somethin’ even an old woman like me can understand.

And another thing, all this talk about viewers and ratings, it just makes my head spin. Just tell me if the good guy won or not. That’s all I need to know. But I guess that’s how they do things these days, with all their fancy numbers and charts. Me, I just like a good fight and a clear winner. Nothin’ more, nothin’ less.
Anyhow, I hope they figure it out. It ain’t right, folks missin’ their wrestlin’ ’cause of the news. It’s like missin’ church on Sunday, just ain’t right. So, get it together, WWE, and let the people of St. Louis watch their wrestlin’ in peace.
