Okay, let’s talk about the Glory Kickboxing belt. You know, I’ve always been a huge fan of kickboxing. I got into it back in the day, watching guys like Don “The Dragon” Wilson. This dude was a beast, a real legend, and he’s considered one of the best kickboxers ever. He started fighting in the late 70s and just dominated.
Then, I remember when Alex Pereira, who’s a big deal in the UFC now, moved to Glory Kickboxing. I followed his career in Glory closely. He fought Artem Vakhitov for the Glory Light Heavyweight title at Glory 77. It was a nail-biter, but Pereira won by a split decision. That was a big deal because he became the first fighter in Glory to hold two belts at the same time. I actually jumped off my couch when they announced him as the winner.

- Don “The Dragon” Wilson: Started in the late 70s, considered one of the greatest.
- Alex Pereira: Won the Glory Light Heavyweight title, held two belts at once.
Back in the day, K-1 was the place to be for kickboxing. It was huge, everyone watched it. I used to watch all the K-1 events. Now, it’s all about Glory. They’ve got some seriously skilled fighters.
One of my favorites is Rico Verhoeven. This guy is a machine. He’s been the Glory Heavyweight Champion since 2013, and he’s also an actor and a motivational speaker. I watched almost every fight of his. He’s got this powerful build, and he’s super athletic. I even tried to copy some of his moves in my own training, but let me tell you, it’s not easy.
- K-1: Was the premier kickboxing organization.
- Glory: Now the top organization, with fighters like Rico Verhoeven.
Other Fighters
I also watched a lot of Buakaw Banchamek’s fights. He is incredible. All those knockouts were just insane. I tried to learn some of his techniques, but man, that guy is on another level.
And of course, who could forget Remy Bonjasky? This guy had a record of 78-20 and was a 3-time K-1 World GP champion. I remember watching his fights and being amazed by his flying kicks. I tried to do them myself, but I mostly ended up falling. It takes a lot of practice and skill to do what he did.
- Buakaw Banchamek: Known for his incredible knockouts.
- Remy Bonjasky: 3-time K-1 World GP champion, famous for flying kicks.
So yeah, that’s my experience with Glory Kickboxing and some of the amazing fighters I’ve watched over the years. I love this sport, and it’s been a big part of my life. I followed these fighters, tried to learn from them, and always got excited watching their fights. It’s not just about the belts, but the journey and the skill these guys bring to the ring.
