Well, let me tell you, I been watchin’ wrasslin’ since before some of you young’uns were even born. Back in my day, it was the WWF, the World Wrestling Federation, and now it’s all fancy with this WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment. Which one is better? This old gal has some thoughts.
Now, I hear folks sayin’ it’s the same thing, just a different name. They changed it, you see. Some legal wrangle with them panda folks, the World Wildlife Fund. They said our WWF was stealin’ their name or somethin’. So, WWF became WWE. But lemme tell ya, it ain’t just the name that changed.

Back in the WWF days, things were different. Wrestlers, they were somethin’ else. The main event wrestling in WWF was just better. They had characters, real characters. Not like these fellas today, all polished and perfect. We had Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, “Macho Man” Randy Savage! Oh, those were the days!
The storylines, they were simpler, easier to follow. Good guys versus bad guys, plain and simple. You knew who to cheer for and who to boo. And the matches? Honey, they were somethin’ to behold. More wrasslin’, less talkin’.
- WWF had the best characters.
- WWF had better stories.
- WWF was just more fun to watch.
Now, this WWE, it’s all flashy. Lights, music, fireworks. It’s like a circus sometimes. And these wrestlers today, they’re good, I’ll give ’em that. Athletes, every one of ’em. They got them John Cena. But it ain’t the same. It’s all about business now. Big money, big business. They are getting more viewers these days. I heard it was 8 million at one point!
They got these different shows, Raw and SmackDown. I remember when they had the ratings, that mean how many people are watching it. And WWE, they were doing bad compared to some other wrasslin’ company. But recently I heard, the WWE product in 2023 was very strong. Impressive, huh?
And the stories, they’re complicated now. Twists and turns, you don’t know who’s good and who’s bad half the time. And they talk so much! Mic work, they call it. Back in the WWF, they let their fists do the talkin’.
I remember one time, Hulk Hogan, he was fightin’ Andre the Giant. Biggest match ever! Everyone was watchin’. The energy, the excitement, you could feel it in the air. That’s what WWF was all about. That raw, unfiltered excitement.
This WWE, it’s like they’re tryin’ too hard. Too many gimmicks, too many special effects. It’s lost that somethin’ special, that magic that WWF had. They try to make it family-friendly. But wrasslin’ ain’t supposed to be all clean and nice. It’s supposed to be rough and tumble, a little bit dangerous.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I still watch WWE. Gotta keep up with the times, I suppose. But in my heart, WWF will always be the best. The good old days. When wrasslin’ was wrasslin’, and not some big corporate show. I heard some people say WWF is often associated with 80s and 90s wrestling. That’s my time!
So, which one is better, WWE or WWF? For this old gal, it’s WWF, hands down. No contest. It was a different time, a different feel. It was real, it was raw, it was exciting. It was wrasslin’ at its best. It is about the wrestling, the characters, the promos. WWF is just better than WWE.
Maybe I’m just old-fashioned. Maybe I’m just stuck in my ways. But I know what I liked, and I liked WWF. And no amount of fancy lights and complicated storylines is gonna change that. WWF was the best, and that’s all there is to it.
