Okay, so the other day I was thinking about baseball, and it hit me – I didn’t really know where all the Major League Baseball (MLB) teams were located. I mean, I knew some of the big names and their cities, but not all of them. So, I decided to do something about it and get a good visual. That’s when I started this little project to make a “map of mlb.”
First, I gathered a list of all the MLB teams. That was pretty easy, there are plenty of sources online that have that kind of information. I made sure to get both the team names and their respective cities. Oh boy, there’s quite a few in California, the East Coast is packed, and then there’s that one lone team up in Canada.

Next, I needed to figure out how to put this all on a map. I thought about just drawing it out, but my artistic skills are, well, let’s just say not great. Plus, it wouldn’t be very precise, you know? So I decided to look for some kind of online tool, something that would let me place markers on a map.
- I searched around for a bit.
- I tried a couple of different tools. Some were okay, some were kind of clunky.
Finally, I found this one website that did exactly what I wanted. It let me pick a map of North America and simply drop pins in the locations. I was quite happy with it. It was pretty straightforward, the interface was okay, and the map was clear.
With my tool in hand, I started plotting the teams. I went through my list, one by one, and dropped a pin for each team in its corresponding city. It was actually kind of fun, seeing the map fill up with all those markers. It also gave me a much better sense of the geographical distribution of the teams. Like I said before, California has a bunch, the East Coast is loaded, and then you’ve got those teams scattered around the Midwest and the South.
The Final Step
The last thing I did was to customize the map a little. I changed the color of the pins to match each team’s primary color, just for a little added visual flair. This part took a bit longer, but it was worth it. It really made the map pop, and it’s easier to identify each team now.
And that’s it! I now have my very own, custom-made “map of mlb.” It’s nothing fancy, but it does the job. Now, whenever I’m watching a game or reading about baseball, I can quickly refer to my map and get a better sense of where the teams are playing. I feel pretty good about it, I have to say. It was a fun little project, and I learned a bit more about the geography of baseball along the way. Plus, it’s always satisfying to create something yourself, even if it’s just a simple map.
