Tackling Some NFL Riddles
So, I decided to give these NFL riddles a shot the other day. Saw ’em pop up somewhere, thought it might be a decent way to kill some time, you know? Test the old brain a bit about football.
First thing, I had to actually find some. Went online, typed in “NFL riddles”. Got a whole bunch of stuff back. Some websites looked okay, others were kinda junky. Spent maybe ten, fifteen minutes just clicking around, trying to find a good list or maybe an app.

Found a few lists that seemed promising. Sat down, ready to go. Okay, first riddle… read it through. Paused. Read it again. Hmm. This wasn’t like simple trivia, like “Who won Super Bowl X?”. It was more like clues you had to piece together. “I wear stripes but ain’t a tiger, I make calls but have no phone.” Stuff like that. Okay, that one’s easy, a referee. Got it.
Felt pretty good after the first one. Then the next few came. Some were alright, I could figure them out after a minute or two. But then I hit a wall with a couple. Just couldn’t connect the dots. Stared at the screen, thinking about players, teams, rules… nothing clicked. It gets kinda frustrating when you know the answer is probably obvious but your brain just won’t find it.
It’s funny how your mind works, or doesn’t.
- I’d read a clue about a specific team’s history.
- Then another about a famous play.
- And a third about a jersey number.
Putting it all together to get the player? Sometimes smooth, sometimes like pulling teeth. I didn’t really keep score hardcore, but I definitely noted the ones that stumped me. Just made a quick mental note, or sometimes scribbled the tough clue down on a bit of paper next to me.
Spent a good hour just going through them. Some were clever, made me chuckle when I finally got the answer. Others felt a bit forced, like the person writing the riddle tried too hard. You know the type.
What I Reckon
Overall? Yeah, it was alright. A decent challenge. Not gonna lie, felt a bit thick sometimes when I missed an easy one. But then felt sharp when I nailed a tough one quickly. It’s just a different way to think about the game, beyond stats and scores. Passed the time, made me think. Probably do it again sometime when I’m bored. Nothing groundbreaking, just a simple brain exercise about football. Worked for me.
