My Afternoon Messing with a WWE Draft Simulator
So, I had some time to kill the other day. You know how it is. Found myself browsing online, thinking about wrestling, specifically the WWE draft. Always wondered how I’d do it if I was in charge. Then I stumbled across one of those online ‘wwe draft simulator’ things.
Didn’t look like much, pretty basic website, but I figured, why not? Let’s give this a whirl. Fired it up in my browser. The first screen was simple enough, asking me to set up the brands. Okay, easy. Typed in Raw and SmackDown. Could probably add NXT or whatever, but I kept it simple for the first try.

Next step, it showed the big list of wrestlers. Man, that was a long list. Scrolling through, seeing all the names – main roster guys, some NXT folks mixed in. It kinda hits you, the sheer size of their roster these days. Had to actually think about who’s who and where they might fit.
Alright, the main event: making the picks. I decided to control both brands myself, try and make it somewhat realistic, you know? Raw got the first pick, I think. Or maybe it was SmackDown? Doesn’t matter. I started clicking names.
- First pick had to be a big one. Think I gave Roman Reigns to SmackDown. Gotta have the Tribal Chief anchoring a show.
- Then Raw needed a counter. Maybe Seth Rollins? Yeah, that felt right. Click.
- Then it was back and forth. Tried to think about champions, challengers, tag teams, the women’s division… it’s actually a bit of a juggle.
- You grab a top star, then you think, “Okay, who can they feud with?” Then you realize you need tag teams, so you grab a couple of those.
- Then you look at the women’s roster and think, “Oops, better grab Rhea Ripley before the other show does.”
It wasn’t super sophisticated. Basically just clicking names and seeing them appear under the Raw or SmackDown column. No fancy graphics, no trade logic, nothing like that. Just point and click drafting. I tried to keep track in my head, making sure I wasn’t loading up one show too much, but it’s easy to lose track.
After maybe 20-30 minutes of clicking back and forth, I’d gone through most of the relevant names. Called it quits there. Stepped back and looked at the final lists I’d made.
Looking at the Results
So, how did my drafted rosters look? Well, SmackDown ended up pretty strong at the top with Roman and a few others I sent there. Raw felt maybe a bit deeper overall, especially in the midcard and tag divisions. It was… interesting. Seeing it laid out like that definitely sparks ideas for matches and stuff.
Overall thoughts? It was a decent way to waste half an hour. Fun to play fantasy booker. The tool itself was super basic, nothing more than a list sorter really. Don’t go in expecting some complex management sim. But if you just want to quickly slap together your own version of the WWE rosters after a draft, yeah, it does the job. Simple, kinda clunky, but it worked. Passed the time, anyway. Might try it again next time I’m bored and feel like shaking things up in my fantasy WWE world.
