Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and hit some balls. I’ve been meaning to get more exercise, and tennis seemed like a fun way to do it. Plus, I used to play a bit in college, so I figured, “Why not?”
First things first, I dusted off my old racket. It’s been sitting in the closet for, like, years. I gave it a good once-over, checked the strings – seemed okay, surprisingly. Then, I rummaged through my drawers for some athletic shorts and a t-shirt. Nothing fancy, just something comfortable to sweat in.

Getting to the Court
I drove over to the local park where they have some public tennis courts. Luckily, it wasn’t too crowded. There were a couple of guys playing on one court, but the rest were empty. I picked a court in the corner, hoping to stay out of everyone’s way.
I started with some basic warm-ups. You know, stretching my arms, legs, and back. Didn’t want to pull a muscle on my first day back! Then, I practiced some simple forehands and backhands against the wall. Just trying to get the feel of the racket again and get my coordination back.
Hitting the Ball
- Forehand: Felt a little rusty at first, but I started to get the hang of it.
- Backhand: Definitely needs more work! My timing was off, and I kept hitting the ball into the net.
- Serve: Surprisingly, my serve wasn’t too bad. I managed to get a few decent ones in.
I spent about an hour just hitting balls back and forth. I didn’t play any actual games, just focused on getting my form right and building up some stamina. It was tougher than I remembered! I was definitely breathing hard by the end of it.
Wrapping Up
Afterwards my body was tired, I packed up my stuff and headed home. My arm was a little sore, but it was a good kind of sore, you know? The kind that tells you you’ve actually done something.
Overall, it was a good day. I’m glad I decided to get back into tennis. It’s a great workout, and it’s actually pretty fun. I’m definitely going to try to play more often. Maybe next time I’ll even try to find someone to play a real game with. Gotta work on that backhand, though!
