Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post about my recent adventure in trying to snag a US Open golf hat.
Alright folks, let me tell you about my quest for the elusive US Open golf hat. It wasn’t pretty, but it was definitely a journey.

It all started when I saw my buddy rocking this sweet US Open hat. I’m a sucker for golf gear, and this one was calling my name. So, I decided right then and there I needed to get my hands on one. Seemed simple enough, right?
First stop, the official US Open website. Duh. I figured they’d have a ton of options. And they did! But… the hat I wanted? Sold out. Every size. Figures. Strike one.
Okay, no problem. Plan B. eBay. I hopped over there, typed in “US Open golf hat,” and bam! Tons of listings. The problem? Either they were way overpriced (scalpers, ugh) or they looked kinda… sketchy. Like maybe they fell off the back of a truck. I almost pulled the trigger on one, but something felt off, so I backed out.
Next up, I figured I’d try some of the big sporting goods stores online. Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, you name it. I spent a solid hour clicking through pages, and nada. Either they didn’t carry the official US Open stuff, or they were also sold out of the hat I wanted. This was getting frustrating.
So, I decided to get a little more creative. I started searching for local golf shops near the US Open course (it was a few weeks after the tournament). I figured maybe some of them had leftovers. I actually called a few places! Surprisingly, one shop said they might have one in the back. “Might” being the operative word.
I jumped in my car and drove over there. It was a bit of a trek, but I was determined. I walked in, told the guy what I was looking for, and he disappeared into the back. A few minutes later, he emerged… empty-handed. “Sorry, man,” he said. “We thought we had one, but it was the wrong year.” Seriously?! Talk about a tease.
I was about ready to give up. I mean, it was just a hat, right? But then, I remembered my cousin lives near the course. I texted him: “Hey, any chance you could swing by the pro shop and see if they have any US Open hats left?” He’s a good dude, so he said he would. A few hours later, I get a text with a picture… IT WAS THE HAT! He managed to snag the last one in my size!

I had him ship it to me, and now it’s sitting proudly on my head. It took a while, but I finally got my US Open golf hat. The moral of the story? Never give up on your dreams… especially when they involve golf hats. And having a helpful cousin doesn’t hurt either. Persistence is key!
So yeah, that was my crazy hat-hunt story. Worth it? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Probably not.
- Maybe next time I’ll just buy one at the tournament.
