Alright, let’s talk about this here… uh… “college football 25 west coast playbook” thing. Sounds fancy, but lemme tell ya, it ain’t nothin’ more than how them fellas on the field run around and try to score, ya know? Just like when the chickens scatter when I throw ’em some corn, cept these fellas got a plan, kinda.

What’s This “West Coast” Business Anyway?
Now, they call it “West Coast” somethin’ or other. Sounds like somethin’ from California, all them fancy folks out there. But what it really means is they like to pass the ball. A lot. Not like them old-timers who just ran it up the middle all day. These fellas, they throw it short, they throw it long, they throw it sideways. Just throwin’ it all over the place, like my grandson throwin’ rocks at them pesky crows in the cornfield.
They say some fella named Bill Walsh, he cooked this whole thing up. Guess he was a smart fella, figured out how to win games by throwin’ the ball. And then some other fellas, like this Gruden guy, and that Reid fella, and Shanahan – both the old one and the young one – they all started doin’ it too. Even this McVay fella, he’s one of them “West Coast” types. Seems like everybody’s doin’ it these days.
How Do They Do It? The “Playbook” Thing
Okay, so how do these fellas know where to run and who to throw to? That’s where this “playbook” comes in. It’s like a recipe book, but for football. It tells ‘em, “Okay, you go here, you go there, and you, throw the ball to that fella runnin’ over there.” It ain’t rocket science, but it’s important. You gotta have a plan, ya know? Just like I plan my day around milkin’ the cows and feedin’ the chickens. Gotta have a plan.

- Formations: This is how the fellas line up before the play. Like, some of ’em might stand close together, some might spread out. It’s all about trickin’ the other team, makin’ ’em think you’re gonna do one thing when you’re gonna do another. Kinda like how I pretend to go inside when I really wanna sneak out to the garden to pick some tomatoes.
- Plays: This is what they actually do after they line up. Runnin’ here, throwin’ there, blockin’ this fella, catchin’ that ball. It’s all gotta be timed just right. Like when I’m bakin’ a pie, gotta put everything in at the right time or it’ll be a mess.
Now, this here “college football 25” game, it’s supposed to have all these different playbooks. Every team’s got their own, they say. Air Force, Alabama, even those fellas from Western Kentucky… they all got their own way of doin’ things. And you can pick any one you want. Kinda like pickin’ which pie you wanna bake, apple, cherry, or maybe even pecan if you’re feelin’ fancy.
Findin’ the Right Plays
They even got somethin’ called a “Playbook Finder” in this here game. So, if you’re lookin’ for a certain way to line up, like that “3-3-5 Tite” thing they talk about (sounds like somethin’ you’d use to tie up a cow, don’t it?), you can find it in there. Them “Tite” fellas, they line up real close to the ball, ready to pounce. Like my old cat when he sees a mouse.
And if you wanna know who plays what, there’s a list for that too. Every team, every playbook, every way they line up. It’s all in there, they say. More information than I know what to do with, that’s for sure.
Defense Matters Too

Now, it ain’t all about throwin’ the ball, ya know? The other team, they wanna stop ya. They got their own playbooks, their own ways of linin’ up and tryin’ to get to your quarterback. They call it “defense.” And it’s just as important as that “offense” stuff. You gotta be able to stop the other team from scorin’ if you wanna win. Just like you gotta keep the raccoons outta the henhouse if you wanna have eggs in the mornin’.
So, What’s the Big Deal?
Well, I reckon this “college football 25 west coast playbook” stuff is just about havin’ a plan and knowin’ how to execute it. Throw the ball, run the ball, stop the other team… it’s all part of the game. And whether you’re callin’ plays on a fancy video game or just tryin’ to get through a day on the farm, it’s all about workin’ hard and doin’ your best. That’s what I always say, anyway.
