Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at golf lately, and I figured, why not try to copy the best? Tiger Woods, right? So, I decided to mess around with his grip technique.
First off, I grabbed my club and a ball. I teed up the ball like I normally do. Now, here’s where it gets a little tricky. Instead of holding the club with all four fingers of my left hand, I took my pinky finger off the club. Yep, just three fingers on the club. It felt weird at first, not gonna lie.

Then, I put my right hand on the club like I usually do. It’s supposed to give you more control or something. Gotta keep that clubface in check. The whole point is to get a good, solid hold without being too tight.
I started swinging, and at first, it felt totally awkward. I mean, you’re used to gripping the club a certain way, and then suddenly, you’re changing it up. It’s like trying to write with your other hand. But I stuck with it, just hitting a few balls, trying to get the feel for it.

Tried to swing
Swung the club a few times with the new grip.

Felt weird
It felt pretty strange, not gonna lie.

Kept practicing
I kept at it, though. Figured I had to get used to it.
After a while, I started to notice something. My shots were a bit more consistent. I wasn’t slicing the ball as much, which was a huge problem for me before. It’s like I had more control over where the ball was going. I wouldn’t say I was hitting like Tiger Woods or anything, but I definitely felt a difference.
I kept practicing with this grip, and the more I did, the more natural it felt. It’s still not perfect, but I can see why this grip works for Tiger. It just gives you a different kind of control over the club. It’s hard to explain, but it just feels more… connected, I guess.

I’m not saying this grip is going to turn you into a pro overnight, but it’s definitely worth trying out. It might take some getting used to, but if it can help Tiger Woods win all those tournaments, it might just help your game too. So, I’m going to keep working on it and see how much it improves my game. Maybe I’ll even start winning a few bucks off my buddies on the course. Who knows?
