Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about somethin’ I heard on the TV the other day. Them fellas talkin’ about football, you know, the one with the pigskin? Yeah, that one. They were jabberin’ on about somethin’ called “cornerbacks” and how most of ’em are, well, not white. Now, I ain’t got nothin’ against nobody, black, white, purple, or green, but it got me thinkin’. How many of them cornerbacks are actually white, huh?
So, I did some snoopin’ around, you know, askin’ my grandson, bless his heart, he knows all about this computery stuff. And from what I gather, it ain’t many. Not many at all. They said on the TV that last year, all the startin’ cornerbacks, all 64 of ’em, were black. Can you believe that? Not a single white fella in the bunch. And their backups neither! Heavens to Betsy!

- Seems like this has been goin’ on for a while now.
- They said some fella named Jason Sehorn, he played a long time ago, back in the 90s and early 2000s, he was white.
- But since then? Not a whole lot. Heard tell of a couple others, Troy Apke and Kevin Kaesviharn, but they didn’t stick around long, I guess.
Now, some folks on the internet, they say different things. One place said there’s 32 white cornerbacks now. Thirty-two! That sounded like a whole heap to me, considerin’ what them TV fellas said. But then another place said that number’s been growin’ lately, ’cause the football league’s tryin’ to be more, what’s the word? Diverse. Yeah, that’s it.
But then I hear about this young fella, Riley Moss. Plays for the Denver Broncos, they say. And he’s white! Folks are sayin’ he might actually start this year, 2024. And there might be two more like him, startin’ and all. Imagine that! Three white cornerbacks startin’ in the whole dang league. That’d be somethin’ else.
Heard tell even that Travis Kelce fella, you know, the one who’s always on TV with that singer girl? Yeah, him. Even he was impressed with this Riley Moss kid. Said he played good defense and all. So maybe things are changin’. Maybe we’ll see more white cornerbacks in the future. Who knows?
It’s all a bit confusin’ if you ask me. One fella says one thing, another says somethin’ else. But from what this old lady can tell, there ain’t a whole lotta white cornerbacks in that football league. It’s mostly, well, you know. And that’s just the way it is, I reckon. But maybe, just maybe, things are startin’ to shift a little. We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we? And in the meantime, I’ll just stick to watchin’ the games and eatin’ my snacks. That’s about all I can do, anyhow.
Anyways, that’s the gist of it. Just thought I’d share what I learned. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits. Don’t want them burnin’ now, do we?
