Alright, let’s jaw about this fella, Tahj Brooks, and this here NFL draft thing. Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you, just an old woman with some time on her hands, but I can tell ya what I see, plain and simple like.
This Tahj Brooks kid, he runs the ball, and from what they say, he runs it pretty darn good. They’re yappin’ about how he’s got over a thousand yards this year, 1,317 they say. That’s a whole heap of runnin’, ain’t it? Sounds like a lot to me, like runnin’ from one end of the farm to the other a hundred times. But then, these fellas on the TV, they start comparin’ him to other youngsters. They sayin’ there’s other boys with more yards, even more touchdowns.

One fella’s got, what, 158 more yards? Another one’s got 175 more? And then this Jeanty fella, he’s got a whole heap more, 745 they say! Goodness gracious, that’s like runnin’ to the next town and back! And the touchdowns, too. Tahj’s got 14, but these other boys got 21 and even 27. Makes ya think, don’t it? Is Tahj good enough?
- Lots of runnin’ yards: 1,317, sounds like a tired boy at the end of the day.
- But other boys got more: Seems like there’s always someone better, that’s life ain’t it?
- Touchdowns matter too: And Tahj’s got fewer than some. Gotta get that ball in the end zone, I reckon.
Now, they’re talkin’ about this draft thing. Sounds like a big to-do where these teams pick the players they want. This year, the Bears, they get to pick first, then the Commanders. It’s all set, they say. But where does Tahj fit in all this? That’s the question, ain’t it?
Some folks, they say Tahj’s gonna go in the third round. That means a lot of other boys get picked before him. Is that good? Is that bad? I don’t rightly know. They say he’s got potential, though. That means he could get better, I guess. Like a young calf that grows into a big ol’ bull. They gotta find the right place for him, they say, a place where he can learn and grow. Sounds like plantin’ a seed and hopin’ it’ll grow big and strong.
I heard some chatter about the Giants pickin’ him, way later though, in 2025. But then another fella said he might go this year. See? It’s all just guessin’ and yappin’ at this point. Nobody really knows for sure. Reminds me of predictin’ the weather. You can guess all you want, but sometimes it just rains anyway.
And here’s somethin’ else, this boy, he coulda gone to the draft last year, but he decided to stay put and play another year with his team, the Red Raiders. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Loyalty, they call it. Like stayin’ with your family even when things get tough. Maybe that’ll help him in the long run, maybe it won’t. Time will tell, I reckon.
So, what’s the bottom line? Well, Tahj Brooks is a good runner, that’s for sure. But is he good enough to be a top pick? That’s what these scouts and coaches gotta figure out. He might need some time to grow, like a good crop, but he’s got the spirit, I reckon. He’s a hard worker, they say. And in my book, that counts for somethin’. It’s like plantin’ a seed you work hard at it so it grow good and fruitful. We’ll just have to wait and see where he lands and what he does. It’s all a gamble, just like life, ain’t it?
At the end of the day, it’s all about findin’ the right fit. Like a good pair of shoes, you gotta find the ones that feel right and let you do your best work. I hope this Tahj boy finds his fit, whether it’s in the first round, the third round, or somewhere else. He sounds like a good kid, and I’ll be rootin’ for him, even if I don’t know a lick about football.
