Alright, let’s talk about this Stanford football team, ya know, the players and all that. Heard they got a bunch of ’em, gotta figure out who’s who.
First off, they got this thing called a “roster.” Sounds fancy, but it’s just a list of all the fellas playin’ ball. Like, who’s wearin’ what number and what position they play. You got your quarterbacks, the fellas throwin’ the ball, then the runners, the big guys up front blockin’, and the fellas catchin’ the ball. Lots of ’em!
Then there’s this “depth chart.” Now, that’s somethin’ else. It’s like a pecking order, ya see? Who’s gonna start the game, who comes in next if the first guy gets tired or hurt. It’s important, ’cause you wanna know who’s the best at each spot.
Quarterbacks
Heard they got a few quarterbacks fightin’ for the startin’ job. Names like Ashton Daniels, Justin Lamson, and Ari Patu. Don’t know much about ’em, but the coach, this Troy Taylor fella, he ain’t sayin’ who’s gonna start yet. Keepin’ it a secret, I guess. Probably wants to keep the other teams guessin’. Smart, I reckon.
Running Backs

- Don’t know all their names, but they gotta have some good runners. Gotta be able to run that ball hard and get those yards. That’s how you win games, ya know, runnin’ and throwin’.
- And them big fellas up front, gotta open up holes for the runners. Tough job, that. Gotta be strong and mean.
Wide Receivers and Tight Ends
Then you got the fellas catchin’ the ball. Wide receivers, they call ’em. And tight ends, kinda like big receivers who can also block. Gotta have good hands, gotta be fast. And gotta be brave, catchin’ that ball with someone tryin’ to knock your head off.
Defense
Now, defense, that’s important too. Gotta stop the other team from scorin’. Got your linemen, your linebackers, and your defensive backs. Linemen try to get to the quarterback, linebackers run around makin’ tackles, and defensive backs cover the receivers.
Special Teams

And don’t forget about the kickers! Gotta make them field goals and extra points. And the punter, gotta kick that ball far when you can’t get a first down. Important jobs, those.
This “depth chart” thing, it changes all the time. Guys get hurt, guys play better, guys play worse. Coach Taylor, he’s gotta figure it all out. Who’s the best at each position, who gives them the best chance to win. It’s a lot of work, I tell ya.
Mudia Reuben, he’s a wide receiver, number 0. He’s 6-2 and 210 pounds, a junior. Sounds like a big fella. They got other fellas too, like Gaethan Bernadel, a linebacker. Lots of names, hard to keep track of ’em all. But them coaches, they know who’s who. They watch ’em practice, they see who’s good and who ain’t.
They got this Fisher Anderson fella, plays center, number 67. And a Joe Asiain, plays defensive line, number 55. Wilfredo Aybar, outside linebacker, number 14. See? Lots of ’em. And this Ayomanor fella, don’t know what position he plays, but he’s on the list.
They playin’ TCU in the first game, heard they’re pretty good. Gonna be a tough game, gotta be ready. Gotta have the right guys on the field, gotta have that “depth chart” figured out.

So, that’s the Stanford football roster and depth chart, as best as I can figure it. Lots of names, lots of positions. Gotta have good players, gotta have a good coach. And gotta have a little luck, I reckon. That’s football for ya.
