So, I was scrolling through my feed the other day, and I saw this post about some social media influencer talking about “Tyreek Hill’s Orlando 6.” I was like, “What the heck is that?” I’d heard of Tyreek Hill, the football player, but “Orlando 6”? That was new.
First, I did a little digging online. I found out that influencers are a big deal these days. Apparently, they’re like the new celebrities, and brands are throwing money at them to promote their stuff. It’s crazy! I even read some article about how companies are using these influencers to build closer relationships with customers. I guess it makes sense. People trust other people more than they trust ads.
Then, I started thinking about how I could use this whole influencer thing for my own little project. I’ve been trying to get more people interested in my vintage toy collection. Maybe I could find an influencer who’s into that kind of thing? I started looking around on different social media places, checking out hashtags and stuff.
- I checked out YouTube first. Lots of toy channels there.
- Then I looked at Instagram. Found some cool vintage toy accounts.
- Even tried TikTok. It was mostly kids doing dances, but I found a few toy collectors there, too.
I made a list of potential influencers who seemed like a good fit. I looked for people who had a decent following, but weren’t so big that they’d ignore me. I also made sure they were actually into vintage toys, not just pretending. It’s pretty easy to spot the fakes, if you know what to look for. I wrote all my findings in a small notebook.
After I had my list, I started reaching out to these influencers. I sent them messages, introducing myself and my collection. I explained that I thought their followers might be interested in seeing it. I kept it short and sweet, didn’t want to be annoying.
Honestly, most of them didn’t even respond. I guess they get a ton of messages. But a few did! One guy, who has a pretty popular YouTube channel about old action figures, said he’d be interested in checking out my collection. We chatted a bit, and he seemed like a cool dude. It’s kinda cool how it seems like online friends, but I don’t actually know him at all.
So, next week, I’m going to send him some pictures and videos of my toys. If he likes them, he might feature them on his channel! Fingers crossed! It would be awesome to get my collection out there to a wider audience. I hope that the followers will leave comments and interact with me. It would be great to see some great results.
This whole influencer thing is a wild ride. It’s definitely a different way of doing things, but it seems to be working for a lot of people. I’m excited to see where this goes.
