Alright, let’s talk about these here “box of boosters”. Don’t rightly know what all the fuss is about, but the young’uns seem to be crazy for ’em. Seems like every time I turn around, they’re jabberin’ on about some “Pokey-man” or “Magic” somethin’ or other. Heard tell it’s got somethin’ to do with cards, like them old tradin’ cards we used to collect, but fancier, I reckon.
Now, what I gather from listenin’ to them kids, these “booster boxes” ain’t just any ol’ box. They’re packed full of these “booster packs,” and each pack’s got a bunch of cards inside. Sounds like a pig in a poke to me, but they get all riled up about it. Heard someone sayin’ most of these boxes got 36 packs in ’em, but some got less, like 30 or even just 12. Guess it depends on what kind of fancy cards you’re after.
They was goin’ on and on about different colors and types too. Somethin’ about “Scarlet and Violet” and “Twilight Masquerade.” Land sakes, sounds like somethin’ out of a dime novel. And the names! “Miraidon Purple,” “Stellar Crown,” “Modern Horizons 3.” Who comes up with this stuff? Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it.
- One thing I did pick up on is that these cards ain’t cheap. Them kids are always savin’ their allowance or beggin’ their folks for money to buy more. Seems like a waste to me, but then again, I ain’t never been one for fancy things.
- And it ain’t just the boxes neither. They talk about buyin’ single cards too, like pickin’ through a pile of beans to find the best ones. Heard tell there’s places online where they trade and sell these cards, “TCGplayer” they call it. Sounds like a whole heap of trouble if you ask me.
Each pack, they say, got around 10 or 14 cards, and sometimes even a little “token” or “helper card.” Don’t rightly know what that is, probly just another piece of fancy paper. They sure do make a fuss over it, though. Screamin’ and hollerin’ when they get a good card, sulkin’ like a whipped pup when they don’t. Kids these days, I tell ya.
I asked one of ’em what the point of it all was, and they just looked at me like I had two heads. Somethin’ about “battlin’” and “collectin’” and bein’ the “best.” Reminds me of them rooster fights they used to have down by the creek, only with paper instead of feathers. Just a bunch of hootin’ and hollerin’ over nothin’ if you ask me.

But hey, if it keeps ’em outta trouble, I guess it ain’t so bad. Long as they ain’t gamblin’ away their life savings or stealin’ to get their hands on these “box of boosters,” I reckon I can live with it. Just wish they’d spend a little more time outside gettin’ some fresh air instead of sittin’ around indoors with their noses stuck in them fancy cards. Lord knows, a little sunshine and hard work never hurt nobody.
Anyway, that’s about all I know about these here “box of boosters.” Not much, I admit, but more than I ever cared to know. If you ask me, it’s all a bunch of hooey, but then again, what do I know? I’m just an old woman tryin’ to make sense of this crazy world. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go tend to my garden. At least them tomatoes make sense.
One more thing though, I heard them talking about “play booster boxes” and “collector booster boxes.” Seems like there’s a box for everythin’ these days. And they say some boxes cost as little as 10 dollars, while others cost a whole lot more. Just goes to show, there’s a sucker born every minute, and these card makers know how to find ’em.
