Okay, so I finally got my hands on a pair of the New Balance Golf 550 shoes. Been eyeing these bad boys for a while, ever since I saw ’em online. Figured it was time to ditch my old, beat-up golf shoes and upgrade to something a little more stylish and functional.
First thing I did when they arrived was rip open the box. Gotta say, the look of these shoes is clean! The colorway I chose was the classic white with the green accents, super fresh. I immediately tried them on in the living room. They felt pretty good right off the bat – a bit snug, but I figured they’d loosen up after a round or two. I walked around the house to get a feel for them. The grip felt solid on the hardwood floors, which was a good sign.

Next up, took ’em to the driving range to give ’em a proper test. It was a sunny afternoon, perfect for hitting some balls. I laced them up tight and stepped onto the tee box. Right away, I noticed the difference compared to my old shoes. These felt way more stable during my swing. I wasn’t slipping or sliding around at all. My feet felt locked in, which gave me a lot more confidence. I started hitting some decent shots, and I gotta say, the shoes might’ve had something to do with it!
After the range, I played a full 18 holes. This was the real test. We had a mix of terrains – some pretty dry spots, some a little damp from the morning dew. The New Balance 550s handled it all like a champ. The traction was fantastic, even on some of the uneven lies. I walked the whole course, and my feet felt surprisingly comfortable. Usually, after 18 holes, my feet are killing me, but these shoes didn’t give me any problems.
Here’s what I really liked:
- The stability: These shoes really helped me stay grounded during my swing.
- The comfort: I could walk 18 holes without my feet getting too sore.
- The style: Let’s be real, they look great! Got a few compliments on the course, too.
And here’s what I wasn’t so thrilled about:
- The initial snugness: They were a little tight when I first put them on, but they did stretch out after a few rounds.
- The price: They’re not the cheapest golf shoes out there, but I think they’re worth the investment if you’re serious about your game.
Overall, I’m really happy with the New Balance Golf 550 shoes. They’ve definitely improved my stability and comfort on the course. If you’re looking for a new pair of golf shoes that are both stylish and functional, I’d definitely recommend giving these a look. Just make sure to wear them around the house a bit to break them in before you hit the links!
