Hey everyone, so I was messing around online the other day, and I got curious about something totally random – NBA players from Mexico. Yeah, I know, pretty niche, right? But I figured, why not dive in and see what I could find. So, I started poking around, trying to piece together a list.
First off, I hit up a bunch of different websites, just trying to get a feel for who these players were and where they came from. It was kinda tough at first, honestly. I mean, you don’t hear about Mexican NBA players every day. I found some websites that were like, “Here’s the top Mexican talent in the NBA!” But then I dug a little deeper, and some other sites were just like, “No players found.” Talk about confusing!

But I wasn’t giving up that easy. I kept at it, cross-referencing names, and looking up their stats. I stumbled upon this one guy, Raúl Fernández, who apparently is a pretty big deal. Like, his bio is translated into 15 different languages on Wikipedia. That’s gotta mean something, right?
Then there’s this other dude, Jaime Jaquez Jr. He’s been making waves recently, playing for the Miami Heat. Turns out, he’s only the sixth Mexican citizen to ever play in the NBA. That’s a pretty exclusive club! The others are Eduardo Najera, Horacio Llamas, Gustavo Ayon, Jorge Gutierrez, and Juan Toscano-Anderson.
I also found some info on Horacio Llamas. He played for the Phoenix Suns for a couple of seasons. Sounds like a cool story. It is not easy to become a professional basketball player!
After spending a good chunk of time on this little project, here’s what I gathered:
- Raúl Fernández – Seems to be a legend, but I need to do more research on him.
- Jaime Jaquez Jr. – The new kid on the block, representing the Miami Heat and his heritage.
- Eduardo Najera – Played for several teams, seems to have had a solid career.
- Horacio Llamas – The Phoenix Suns guy, definitely worth looking into more.
- Gustavo Ayon, Jorge Gutierrez, and Juan Toscano-Anderson – Need to dig deeper on these guys too, but it’s cool to see there’s a handful of them.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure into the world of Mexican NBA players. It was a bit of a wild goose chase at times, but hey, I learned something new. And it just goes to show, there are interesting stories everywhere if you’re willing to look for them. Maybe I’ll make another post when I find more about their stories and careers. Stay tuned!
