Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this game, MLB The Show 24, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride. I’m not even that big into baseball, but I saw some people talking about it online, and I got curious. Plus, I had some free time on my hands, and why not, right?
So, first thing I did was grab a copy of the game for my Xbox One. It came with some extra stuff, like five “The Show Packs.” I guess those are like loot boxes or something? Not really sure, but it sounded cool at the time.

Booting up the game, I just started clicking around. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I figured I’d learn as I went. I created a player, picked a team, and started playing some games. It was pretty confusing at first, with all the different buttons and controls. I kept striking out, and my players were running all over the place. Honestly, it felt like I was controlling a bunch of drunk toddlers.
But, I kept at it. I started to get the hang of the controls, figuring out when to swing, when to pitch, and how to run the bases without tripping over my own feet. It was still tough, but I was starting to have some fun. I even managed to hit a few home runs, which felt pretty awesome.
There are a bunch of different modes you can play, too. I mostly stuck to the “Road to the Show” mode, where you create a player and try to make it to the big leagues. It’s like a career mode, I guess. You start in the minors, playing for some small-town team, and you have to work your way up. It’s a grind, but it’s also kind of addicting. You get to improve your player’s skills, make choices about your career, and all that stuff.
- Choosing a team: Selecting your favorite team or one with opportunities.
- Improving stats: Playing games and completing challenges to increase player attributes.
- Decision making: Making choices that affect your career path.
- Grinding through games: Winning is good.
I also tried out some of the other modes, like “Franchise” and “Diamond Dynasty.” Franchise mode is where you manage a whole team, making trades, signing free agents, and trying to win the World Series. Diamond Dynasty is like a card-collecting mode, where you build a team out of player cards you collect. I didn’t spend too much time on those modes, but they seemed pretty deep if you’re into that kind of thing.
My Overall Impression
It’s a pretty solid game, especially if you’re a baseball fan. Even if you’re not, it’s still kind of fun to just mess around and hit some dingers. There’s a lot to do in the game, and it can be pretty challenging, but it’s also rewarding when you finally start to get good. I’m still not very good, but I’m having fun, and that’s all that really matters, right?
So, yeah, that’s my experience with MLB The Show 24 so far. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m glad I gave it a shot. Who knows, maybe I’ll even become a real baseball fan someday. Or maybe not. We’ll see.
