Okay, so I’ve been grinding away at MLB The Show 24, trying to figure out the best pitches to dominate on the mound. Let me tell you, it’s been a journey!
I started off just throwing whatever, you know? Fastballs down the middle, curveballs that hung, the usual rookie mistakes. I was getting lit up like a Christmas tree. It was rough. But I was determined to get better, so I started paying attention to what the pros were doing.

Experimenting with Different Pitches
First, I focused on fastballs. I experimented with four-seamers, two-seamers, cutters, and sinkers. It’s crazy how much movement you can get on these pitches! I started hitting the corners more, mixing up speeds, and really trying to keep the batters guessing. It made a huge difference. I wasn’t just relying on pure heat anymore, but it still felt like I needed more.
Then, I moved on to breaking balls. This is where things got really interesting. I spent hours in practice mode, just trying to get a feel for the different types of curves and sliders.
Finding My Go-To Pitches
- Slurve: Man, this pitch is nasty! It’s like a slider, but with more of a curveball break. I started throwing it to right-handed batters, aiming for the outside corner. It would start out looking like a strike, then dive down and away at the last second. So many swings and misses.
- Sweeping Curve: This one is a bit trickier to master, but it’s worth it. It’s got a wide, sweeping break that’s great for getting ground balls. I like to use it against lefties, especially when I’m ahead in the count. You can get them chasing pitches way out of the zone.
Putting it All Together
Once I felt comfortable with these pitches, I started working on my sequencing. You can’t just throw the same pitch over and over again, or the batters will figure you out. I started mixing up my fastballs with my breaking balls, changing speeds, and using different locations. I realized that pitching is like a chess match – you have to think ahead and anticipate what the batter is expecting.
It took a lot of practice, and I still have a long way to go, but I’m definitely seeing improvement. I’m striking out more batters, giving up fewer hits, and most importantly, having more fun. I think that finding the best pitches in MLB The Show 24 is an ongoing process. You have to keep experimenting, keep learning, and keep adapting. That’s what makes the game so great!
