Alright, let’s talk about this “program stars” thing in that baseball game, MLB The Show 23, you know, the one where you make your own player. Folks call it “RTTs” or somethin’. Sounds fancy, but it ain’t rocket science.

What are these program stars anyway?
Well, it’s like this. You do stuff in the game, and you get stars. Like, you hit a home run, star! You strike somebody out, star! You even get stars for just playin’ a few games, I reckon. It’s like them gold stars they used to give kids in school, only these stars get you stuff in the game.
You find these stars in what they call “programs.” Think of it like a list of chores. You finish a chore, you get a star. These programs are in the main menu. Just look around, you’ll find it. Can’t miss it, unless you’re blind as a bat, ha!
- You get stars for finishin’ “missions.” That’s just doin’ certain things in the game, like gettin’ a certain number of hits or whatever.
- Then there’s “moments.” These are like little challenges. They throw you into a situation and see if you can succeed. Like, bottom of the ninth, two outs, bases loaded. You get the picture.
- And sometimes, you get stars just for playin’ the game, like I said. They call it “other in-game activities.” Sounds fancy, huh? It ain’t.
What do you do with these stars?
Well, you trade ’em in for stuff, of course! Like new bats, new gloves, new shoes. Makes your player better, I guess. Or maybe just look fancier. I ain’t sure which is more important these days. Kids these days, they care more about lookin’ good than playin’ good, I tell ya.

You go to the “programs” thingy in the main menu and you can see what kinda stuff you can get with your stars. It’s like shoppin’ but you ain’t spendin’ real money, so that’s good.
How do you get to the big leagues fast?
Now, normally, you gotta spend years in the minor leagues, workin’ your way up. That’s how it was back in the day, anyway. But these young fellers, they want everything now, now, now. Impatient bunch, I tell ya.
But in this game, you can get to the big leagues pretty quick if you’re good enough. I heard you can even get there in a few months. Imagine that! A few months! Back in my day, you’d be lucky to get there in a few years. But that’s how these games are I suppose.
How do you pitch in this game?

Pitchin’ is kinda tricky, but it ain’t too hard once you get the hang of it. It’s like throwin’ horseshoes, you gotta get the hang of it, you know? You pick your pitch, like a fastball or a curveball, and then you pull down on that little stick on the controller. There’s a little line that goes up and down, and you gotta try to stop it when it’s in the yellow. That’s the sweet spot, they say. If you stop in the yellow it seems you throw good. If you miss then uh oh! The ball goes every which way.
Then, you push the stick up towards where you wanna throw the ball. There’s a target on the screen, so you just aim for that. Sounds easy, right? Well, it ain’t always that easy, especially when them batters are swingin’ for the fences. They get real good sometimes, makes it hard for an old lady like me to keep up, y’know.
Your Own Player’s Program
And get this, your own player, the one you create, he’s got his own program thing too, with stars and all. You get packs with stuff to make your player better. It’s kinda hidden, though. You gotta poke around in the menus to find it. Look for somethin’ called “CAP” menu. It’s up in the corner somewhere. Kids these days and their fancy menus. Can’t make things simple.
So, that’s pretty much it. You play the game, you get stars, you get stuff. It’s all about makin’ your player the best he can be. Or just lookin’ cool. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about baseball made me hungry.
