I really wanted to see all the Major League Baseball stadiums on a map, so I decided to make one myself. Here’s how I did it.
First, I needed a list of all the stadiums. I mean, you can’t map something if you don’t know what you’re mapping, right? So, I went online and found a list of all the MLB teams and their home stadiums. It wasn’t too hard; there are plenty of websites with that info.
Gathering the Addresses
Next, I needed the addresses for each of these stadiums. Again, this wasn’t rocket science. I just used a search engine and looked up each stadium’s address one by one. Some were easy to find on the team’s official website, while others I had to dig a little deeper for. But eventually, I had a complete list of addresses.
Getting the Coordinates
Now, just having the addresses isn’t enough to put them on a map. I needed the latitude and longitude coordinates for each stadium. To do this, I found a website that could convert addresses into coordinates. There were a few free ones out there, and they worked pretty well. I typed in each address, and the website spat out the coordinates. I copied those down.
Putting It All on a Map
With my list of stadiums, addresses, and coordinates in hand, it was time to create the map. For this, I used an online mapping tool. There are many out there, but I chose one that lets you create custom maps and add markers to them. I created a new map and then started adding markers for each stadium. I entered the coordinates I had gathered, and boom, a marker appeared on the map. I did this for each stadium, adding a label with the stadium’s name.
The Final Touch
Once I had all the markers on the map, I tweaked the look a bit. I made sure the map was zoomed out enough to show all of North America since that’s where all the MLB teams are based. Then, I just saved the map and shared it with some friends who are also baseball fans. They thought it was pretty cool, which made me happy.
So, that’s how I mapped all the MLB stadiums. It was a fun little project, and now I have a handy map to plan my dream baseball road trip. And hey, it’s pretty neat to see all those stadiums from a bird’s-eye view!
