Okay, so the other day, I was trying to remember all the MLB baseball teams, and my mind just went blank. I mean, there are so many! So I thought, “Why not make a list? And let’s do it in alphabetical order to make it even more organized.” So, that’s what I did, and I figured I’d share my process with you all.
First, I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper. Yeah, I’m old school like that sometimes. I find it easier to brainstorm when I can actually write things down. As I started writing, I realized I should probably check how many teams there even are in the MLB. Turns out, there are 30 teams! That’s a lot of teams to keep track of.

Then, I learned that these 30 teams are split between two leagues: the National League and the American League, each with 15 teams. Most of these teams are in the United States, but there’s one in Canada, too. It’s pretty cool that baseball is big in both countries.
I decided to tackle the list alphabetically. I started with “A” and immediately thought of the Arizona Diamondbacks. I jotted that down and then just kept going, trying to recall each team name. Some were easy, like the Boston Red Sox or the New York Yankees (they have the most World Series wins since 1921, by the way, a whopping 27!), but others took a bit more thought.
After I had a decent list going, I jumped online to make sure I wasn’t missing any teams and to confirm their official names. I also found some cool info about the different divisions each league has, but I decided to keep my list simple and just alphabetical for now.
Finally, I typed up my list to make it all neat and tidy. Here’s what I ended up with:
MLB Baseball Teams in Alphabetical Order
- Arizona Diamondbacks
- Atlanta Braves
- Baltimore Orioles
- Boston Red Sox
- Chicago Cubs
- Chicago White Sox
- Cincinnati Reds
- Cleveland Guardians
- Colorado Rockies
- Detroit Tigers
- Houston Astros
- Kansas City Royals
- Los Angeles Angels
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Miami Marlins
- Milwaukee Brewers
- Minnesota Twins
- New York Mets
- New York Yankees
- Oakland Athletics
- Philadelphia Phillies
- Pittsburgh Pirates
- San Diego Padres
- San Francisco Giants
- Seattle Mariners
- St. Louis Cardinals
- Tampa Bay Rays
- Texas Rangers
- Toronto Blue Jays
- Washington Nationals
And there you have it! That’s my process for creating an alphabetical list of all the MLB baseball teams. It was a fun little project, and now I have a handy list whenever I need it. Hopefully, this helps some of you out there who might also struggle to remember all the teams. It’s definitely easier when you break it down and have a system, you know?
