I wanted to check out some famous lesbian tennis players, and I found some interesting things.
First, I went on the internet and searched for some stuff. I tried “lesbian tennis stars” and “LGBTQ+ tennis players”. I found some names and articles about them.

One of the first names I saw was Martina Navratilova. Turns out, she’s a big deal in tennis and has spoken out about LGBTQ+ stuff.
Then I looked into some current players. I found a list and saw names like Alison Van Uytvanck and Greet Minnen from Belgium, and Sam Stosur from Australia. They’re all out there doing their thing, which is cool.
I also bumped into some articles talking about Pride Month and how some WTA players were involved in discussions about the challenges LGBTQ+ athletes face. It was eye-opening to see them using their platform to talk about this stuff.
Then there’s Billie Jean King. She’s a legend, not just for her tennis skills but also for fighting for women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights in sports. She won a ton of Grand Slam titles and pushed for equal pay, which is awesome.
- Martina Navratilova – She is a big name who has talked about LGBTQ+ issues.
- Alison Van Uytvanck – A current player who’s out.
- Greet Minnen – Another current player who’s out.
- Sam Stosur – Also a current player, and she’s out too.
- Billie Jean King – A legend who fought for equality.
What I did in short
I searched the internet, read some articles, and made a list of names. It was cool to see how these women have made an impact both on and off the court.
Oh, and I found this funny picture, the “tennis girl” one. It’s famous, but I didn’t realize it was taken back in 1976. It’s pretty cheeky!
I also learned about Serena Williams, but it was not relative to the topic.

All in all, it was a fun little research project. I learned a lot about some great lesbian tennis players and their contributions to the sport and beyond.
