Okay, so today I wanted to try out something new – kickboxing! Specifically, I found this place called “Henderson” that seemed pretty legit. I’ve never done kickboxing before, but I’ve always been curious. It looks super intense and like a great way to get in shape and blow off some steam.
First things first, I got dressed in some comfy workout clothes. Nothing fancy, just an old t-shirt and some gym shorts. I also made sure to bring a water bottle, because I had a feeling I’d be sweating buckets. I drove over to Henderson, which was about a 20-minute drive from my place.

When I walked in, the energy was crazy! Music was pumping, people were hitting bags, and there was this general buzz of excitement. I checked in at the front desk, and they gave me a quick tour of the place. They showed me the locker rooms, the main workout area with all the heavy bags, and a smaller area for warm-ups.
The class I signed up for was a beginner’s class, thank goodness. The instructor, a really energetic guy, started us off with some basic stretches and warm-up exercises. We did jumping jacks, push-ups, and some light jogging around the room. Even that was a little tiring!
Then came the fun part – learning the moves! We practiced jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts. The instructor walked around, correcting our form and giving us tips. He kept saying things like, “Pivot your feet!” and “Keep your hands up!” It was a lot to remember, but I started to get the hang of it.
After we drilled the basic punches, we moved on to kicks. We learned front kicks, roundhouse kicks, and sidekicks. These were definitely harder for me. My balance was a little off, and I felt like a baby giraffe trying to walk for the first time. But hey, everyone starts somewhere, right?
The last part of the class was hitting the heavy bags. This was by far the most satisfying part! I unleashed all my pent-up energy on that bag, throwing punches and kicks like there was no tomorrow. It was such a great stress reliever!
