So, I’ve been wanting to get back into shape and try something new, and I thought, why not give kickboxing a shot? I live in Cincinnati, so I started looking around for places to train. I gotta say, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be to find the right spot.
First, I searched for “kickboxing gyms in Cincinnati”. I got a bunch of results, but a lot of them were for general fitness gyms that just happened to offer kickboxing classes. I wanted something more focused, you know? A place where kickboxing was the main thing.

After some more digging, I found a few dedicated kickboxing gyms. I checked out their websites and social media pages, looked at their schedules and prices, and read some reviews. Some places seemed cool, others not so much. It was tough to decide.
- One place had a really intense vibe, which was kind of intimidating for a beginner like me.
- Another place was way too far from where I live.
- A few places just didn’t have schedules that worked with my work hours.
Finally, I narrowed it down to two gyms that seemed like a good fit. I decided to visit both of them and try out a trial class. The first gym I tried was okay. The instructor was alright, the class was decent, but it just didn’t feel like the right fit for me. It felt way too easy and I felt unchallenged. There were only like five other students.
Then I tried the second gym, and I knew right away that this was the place for me. The energy was great, the instructor was super motivating and helpful, and the other students were friendly and supportive. The class was challenging but in a good way, and I left feeling like I had really accomplished something, and everyone was so nice and fun.
Making a decision
So, I signed up for a membership at the second gym. It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m really enjoying it. I go to classes three times a week, and I can already feel myself getting stronger and more confident. I feel challenged and I’m getting better at it.
It’s definitely a tough workout, but it’s also a lot of fun. It’s a great way to relieve stress, and I always leave feeling energized and positive. I’m so glad I decided to give kickboxing a try, and I’m excited to see how much I can improve over time.
If you’re in Cincinnati and thinking about trying kickboxing, I definitely recommend doing some research and trying out a few different gyms. It might take some time to find the right fit, but it’s worth it in the end.
