Alright so yesterday I finally got around to updating that Potomac football schedule everyone kept asking about. Woke up early, poured myself a big mug of coffee – the strong stuff – and fired up the laptop thinking this would be quick. Famous last words, right?
Where It All Started
First thing, pulled up the original schedule I posted weeks ago. Realized it looked like garbage – team names were messed up, some dates shifted, and half the TV listings were straight up wrong. Felt kinda stupid sharing outdated junk. So I grabbed my messy notebook, the one filled with scribbled notes from calls and emails with the league guys.

The Grind Begins
Opened a fresh spreadsheet. Started typing in all the changes:
- That huge rivalry game moved from Saturday afternoon to Friday night under the lights. Big deal for local fans.
- Found out two matchups got swapped because of field issues. Had to scratch out whole rows and redo them.
- The TV situation? Total chaos. Some games bounced between three different channels. Called my contact again, waited on hold forever, finally got the confirmed times and networks. Typed those in real slow, double-checking every letter.
Hit save. Of course, the stupid spreadsheet froze for a solid minute. My heart almost stopped thinking I lost everything. Thank goodness it recovered.
Turning Notes Into Something Useful
Copied the cleaned-up schedule from the spreadsheet. Pasted it into my blog draft. Looked boring. Needed to make it easy for folks. Added some bold headings for each week, broke it down team by team, and made sure the TV times stood out clear. Tried fancy tables… wrecked the layout immediately. Scrapped that. Went back to simple dashes and spacing. Worked way better. Learned my lesson – keep it stupid simple.
The Final Push
Proofread the whole thing twice. Spotted three typos and one wrong kickoff time. Fixed ’em. Added a quick note at the top saying “UPDATED: All times confirmed for TV as of today!” Hit that publish button. Felt good. Let out a sigh, finished my now-cold coffee.
Honestly? Shouldn’t have waited so long. Updating schedules feels like chasing your tail sometimes, but folks rely on it. Coffee helps. Patience helps more.
