Alright, so I’ve been sinking a good amount of time into MLB The Show 24, specifically my Road to the Show player. Things were… okay, but I just wasn’t feeling it with my current team. You know how it is, sometimes you just need a change of scenery, or maybe you feel like you’re stuck behind a star player. So, I decided to figure out how to ask for a trade.
Getting the Ball Rolling
First thing I did was poke around the menus. It’s not like there’s a giant “TRADE ME NOW” button, unfortunately. I’m in my RTTS career, and I figured my agent would be the guy to talk to. So, I navigated to the screen where I can interact with my agent. It’s usually under one of the career progression tabs, you gotta look for something like “My Career,” “Interactions,” or “My Agent.”

Once I found the agent interaction options, I looked for anything related to my happiness or future with the team. It’s usually phrased like “Discuss my role” or “Express unhappiness” or something similar. For me, there was an option that pretty clearly led to telling my agent I wanted out.
Making the Request and the Waiting Game
So, I selected that option. My player had a little chat with the agent, basically saying, “Hey, I think it’s time for a move.” The agent, like they always do, said something along the lines of “Okay, I’ll see what I can do, I’ll talk to the front office.” Don’t expect it to happen overnight. This is where the game tries to be a bit realistic.
After I told my agent, I just had to keep playing. Played a few games, advanced a week or so in the calendar. You’re basically waiting for your agent to “call” you back, which happens through an in-game notification or another interaction prompt.
What Happened in My Case
After a bit, my agent got back to me. He said he’d spoken to the GM. Now, this is where it can go a few ways. Sometimes they’ll tell you no one is interested, or the team doesn’t want to trade you. Other times, they might say they’re working on it.
For me, the first time, the team actually tried to convince me to stay. They said they valued me, blah blah blah. I stuck to my guns, though, because I really wanted that trade. So, I told my agent to keep looking. It took a little more time, maybe another couple of weeks in-game, and then boom! My agent popped up again, this time with actual trade offers. I got to see a list of interested teams, which was pretty cool. I looked at their rosters, their needs, and picked the one that felt like the best fit.
The key is patience. You might not get traded immediately, or to your dream team on the first try.
A Few Things I Noticed
- Playing well helps: I think if your stats are good, you’re more likely to have teams interested, and your current team might be more willing to get something good in return for you. So, keep mashing or painting those corners!
- Timing might matter: I’m not 100% sure, but requesting a trade closer to the trade deadline in the game’s season might shake things up more. Just a hunch.
- Don’t spam it: I didn’t try requesting a trade every other day. I figured that would just annoy the virtual agent and GM. Give it some time after you make the request.
So yeah, that was my journey trying to get traded. It wasn’t super complicated, mostly just knowing where to look in the menus and then having a bit of patience while the game simulates the process. It definitely breathed some new life into my RTTS career once I landed on a new squad. Good luck if you’re trying to make a move yourself!
