Well, I heard somethin’ on the radio the other day, got me thinkin’. They was talkin’ ’bout them football players, the ones that run real fast and hit each other real hard. They was sayin’ somethin’ ’bout how many white cornerbacks are in that there NFL. Made me scratch my head, I tell ya.
White Cornerbacks in the NFL, What’s That All About?
Now, I ain’t no expert on that NFL football, but I seen a few games in my time. Lots of fellas runnin’ around, throwin’ that ball, catchin’ it, what have ya. But this white cornerbacks thing, that’s a new one on me. Seems like they’s talkin’ ’bout how there ain’t many of ’em. And I thought, well, why’s that?
They said on the radio, it’s been a long time since one of them white cornerbacks started a game. Like, a real long time. Over 20 years! Can you believe that? Twenty years! Back when I was, well, a little younger, anyway. They said some fella named Jason See-horn, or somethin’ like that, was the last one. Lordy, that’s a while back.
- Jason See-horn, they said his name was.
- Twenty years ago, maybe more.
- Not many white cornerbacks, that’s for sure.
So, How Many White Cornerbacks Are There Now?
Now, this is where it gets a little fuzzy for me. Them radio fellas was throwin’ around numbers faster than a greased pig at the county fair. But I think they said there’s gonna be some this year. Maybe three? Yeah, I think that’s what they said. Three white cornerbacks startin’ this year. Finally, some changes, that is good.
They even said some names. One was named Moss, like that green stuff that grows on trees. Another one had a name like Dee-John, or something like that, but his first name was Cooper. Cooper DeJean. They play for them Broncos and Eagles. Big teams, I reckon.
So, to answer that question, “how many white cornerbacks are in the NFL?” Sounds like there ain’t a whole heap of ’em. But maybe, just maybe, that’s startin’ to change. It is 2024, you know. We all should have chances to play.
Why Ain’t There More White Cornerbacks?
Well, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? I don’t rightly know. Maybe them white cornerbacks just ain’t as fast, or maybe they just don’t wanna play that position. Or maybe folks just ain’t givin’ ’em a chance. It’s hard to say. I don’t have all the answers.
But what I do know is, everybody ought to have a fair shake. If a fella’s good enough to play, he ought to be able to play, no matter what color he is. That’s just common sense, ain’t it? Seems like some folks forgot that somewhere along the way. This is what I always told my children.
- Maybe they ain’t fast enough.
- Maybe they don’t wanna play that position.
- Maybe folks just ain’t givin’ ’em a chance.
- Everybody ought to have a fair shake.
This Whole Thing Got Me Thinkin’
This whole white cornerbacks in the NFL thing got me thinkin’ ’bout a lot of things. ‘Bout how things change, and how they stay the same. ‘Bout how some folks get more chances than others. It’s a lot to think about, ain’t it?
I reckon things are changin’, though. Slowly but surely. Maybe one day, it won’t even be a question anymore. Maybe one day, we’ll just see football players, and we won’t worry about what color they are. That’d be somethin’, wouldn’t it?
There are more and more of them players each year, they say. They said the NFL is gettin’ more, what’s that word? Diverse. Yeah, that’s it. More different kinds of folks playin’. That’s a good thing, I reckon. The more, the merrier, I always say.
Hopin’ for the Best
Well, I’m gonna keep my eye on them white cornerbacks this year. See how they do. I’m rootin’ for ’em. I’m rootin’ for all them players, really. It takes a lot of guts to get out there and do what they do. Hope they all have a good year and no one gets hurt.
And I hope folks start payin’ more attention to how good a player is, and less attention to what color he is. That’s what really matters, ain’t it? How good you are, not what you look like. If you are good, they will see. Just be patient.
So, there you have it. My two cents on this whole white cornerbacks in the NFL thing. It’s a head-scratcher, for sure. But maybe, just maybe, things are startin’ to change. And that’s somethin’ to be hopeful for. We’ll see what happens next year, I guess. Maybe more white cornerbacks will show up. Who knows?
