So, I got this idea to get into golf. I mean, it looked fun, and I’ve always wanted to give it a shot. I did a little searching online and found out there’s this thing called the “Hamilton women’s golf”. Sounded interesting, so I decided to dive in.
Finding a Coach
First things first, I needed someone to teach me the ropes. I’m a complete beginner, so I needed to find a good coach. I looked around, checked out some reviews, and there were a few options. There was this place called Golftec, and another one called Wedges ‘N Woods Golf Academy. And a few more. They all seemed pretty legit, but I needed someone who’s good with beginners. And then I remembered that there is a 5-time Canadian Women’s Long Drive Champion named Far Samji, which is awesome! Maybe I could get some good advice from her.

Getting Started
After some back and forth, I finally settled on a coach. We scheduled a few lessons, and I was ready to go. Showed up at the driving range, feeling a bit nervous, but mostly excited. I mean, I’ve watched golf on TV, but actually doing it is a whole different ball game.
The First Few Lessons
The coach started me off with the basics. Grip, stance, swing – all that stuff. It was a lot to take in, and my first few swings were, well, let’s just say they weren’t pretty. Balls were flying everywhere except where they were supposed to go. But, you know what? It was actually kinda fun. I was learning something new, and even though I sucked at first, I could feel myself getting a little better each time. The coach was patient, showed me what I was doing wrong, and gave me tips to improve. One thing I learned that was really interesting was figuring out when to be aggressive and go for it. It’s not just about hitting the ball; there’s a strategy to it.
Practice Makes Perfect
After the lessons, I started going to the driving range on my own to practice. Hit a bucket of balls, tried to remember everything the coach taught me. It was tough, and sometimes frustrating, but I kept at it. I even started watching some golf videos online, trying to pick up more tips and techniques.
Playing My First Round
After a few weeks of practice, I felt like I was ready to try playing an actual round of golf. I mean, I still wasn’t great, but I figured I could at least make it through a game without embarrassing myself too much. So, I found a local course, booked a tee time, and off I went. I also found out that there is a place called The Indoor Golf Academy, which is good to know for the winter. Anyway, I invited a few friends who also play golf, and it was a blast. Sure, I didn’t break any records, but I had a great time. We laughed a lot, especially at my not-so-great shots, but hey, I finished the round, and that’s what mattered.
Still Learning
So, that’s where I’m at now. Still learning, still practicing, and still having fun. I’m definitely not a pro, not even close, but I’m enjoying the process. It’s a great way to get outside, get some exercise, and hang out with friends. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually be good at this whole golf thing.
If you’re thinking about getting into golf, I say go for it. It’s a challenge, but it’s also a lot of fun. Just be prepared to be bad at first, but don’t let that discourage you. We all start somewhere, right?
