Alright, so yesterday I did something pretty cool – boxing at Turning Stone! I gotta tell ya, it was way more intense than I thought it would be.
It all started with me waking up kinda late, like 10 AM. I wasn’t really planning on doing much, just chilling at home. But then my buddy called, said he had an extra spot at a boxing class in Turning Stone. I was like, “Boxing? Me? Nah.” But he kept bugging me, saying it’d be a good workout and something different. So, I caved.

First thing I did was grab some coffee. Needed that caffeine kick! Then I threw on some workout clothes – old t-shirt, shorts, the usual. We drove out to Turning Stone, which is about an hour away from where I live. It’s a huge place, lots of stuff going on, like gaming and pools and all that. But we were there for the boxing gym.
We get to the gym, and it’s legit. Boxing rings, heavy bags, speed bags, the whole shebang. I felt a little intimidated, honestly. There were some serious-looking dudes warming up, hitting the bags like they owed them money.
The class started with a warm-up – jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, the works. I was already sweating like crazy. Then the instructor, a tough-looking guy with a shaved head, showed us some basic punches – jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts. He emphasized footwork and keeping our hands up. Easier said than done, let me tell you.
Next, we paired up and started hitting the heavy bags. My partner was a decent guy, pretty experienced. He gave me some pointers on my form, which was definitely needed. I was throwing punches like a newborn giraffe trying to walk. But hey, I was trying!
We did a few rounds on the heavy bags, then moved on to some pad work with the instructor. That was intense! He was yelling out combinations, and I had to try to keep up. My arms were burning, my shoulders were screaming, and I was gasping for air. But it felt good, you know? Like I was actually accomplishing something.
After the pad work, we did some more conditioning – burpees, mountain climbers, planks. I thought I was gonna die. But I pushed through it, somehow. The instructor kept yelling encouragement, which actually helped.
Finally, the class ended. I was completely wiped, drenched in sweat, and my muscles were aching. But I also felt amazing. Like I had just conquered something challenging. We stretched out, cooled down, and then headed to the showers.
After showering, we grabbed some food at one of the restaurants in Turning Stone. I was starving! I got a huge burger and fries. I earned it, dammit.
The drive home was quiet. I was exhausted, but also energized. Boxing is a killer workout, no doubt about it. I’m definitely gonna go back again. I think I might even sign up for some regular classes. Who knows, maybe I’ll become the next Rocky Balboa! (Okay, probably not. But a guy can dream, right?)
Anyway, that was my boxing experience at Turning Stone. It was tough, it was challenging, but it was also a lot of fun. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new way to get in shape and push yourself. Just be prepared to sweat!
Here’s a quick rundown of what I learned:
- Boxing is way harder than it looks.
- Proper form is crucial to avoid injury.
- Staying hydrated is key.
- I’m not as in shape as I thought I was.
- I actually enjoyed getting punched in the face (sort of).
So yeah, that’s it. If you ever get a chance to try boxing, go for it! You might just surprise yourself.
