Okay, so I wanted to make a map of all the Major League Baseball teams in America. I’ve always been a huge baseball fan, and I thought it would be cool to see all the teams laid out on a map. This is how I got it done.
First, I started by looking up a list of all the MLB teams. I found a website that had them all listed out by division and league, which was super helpful. I also made note of the minor league and independent teams because why not, right? The more the merrier! I love watching a minor league game sometimes, too.
- American League East: I had to find where each team played.
- American League Central: I wrote down each city.
- American League West: Same deal, wrote down where they call home.
- National League East: Gotta know where each team is from.
- National League Central: Down on my list they went.
- National League West: These ones were further out, so I made a special note.
Then, I grabbed a map of the United States. It was just a regular map, nothing fancy. I found a free one online that I could download and print out.
Next, I started marking the locations of each team on the map. I used a red marker for the American League teams and a blue marker for the National League teams. It was a little tricky to get all the teams in the right spot, especially since some cities have more than one team. For those, I just put the dots really close together. I thought about using an app, but where is the fun in that? Hand-made is always more satisfying to me.
Once I had all the MLB teams marked, I started adding in the minor league and independent teams. I used a green marker for these. Man, there are a lot of minor league teams! It took a while to get them all on the map, but I think I got most of them.
After all the dots were in place, I added a legend to the map to show what each color meant. I also labeled each division and league. It was starting to look pretty good!
Finally, I stepped back and admired my work. It was really cool to see all the baseball teams spread out across the country. It made me want to take a road trip and see a game in every city. Maybe I should check out a road trip planner website. Maybe one of those mobile apps everybody is using these days would be good? I do not know. I am just happy to have my map!
This was a fun little project, and it was actually pretty easy to do. If you’re a baseball fan, I definitely recommend trying it out. It is a great way to learn more about the teams and where they are located. Plus, it looks pretty awesome hanging on the wall. It is a good conversation piece with other fans of the sport.
Oh! I almost forgot. I also found some websites that had NFL news and schedules. I am not as big of an NFL guy, but I might make one of those maps, too. You know, maybe I will make one for every sport! Now, that is an idea.
