Alright, so I’ve been meaning to get into collecting football cards, and who better to start with than the legendary Deion Sanders? “Prime Time” himself! I figured his cards gotta be worth something, plus it’s just cool to own a piece of history, you know?
First thing I did was hit up the internet. Just started searching for “Deion Sanders rookie cards” and “valuable Deion Sanders cards.” I wanted to get a feel for what was out there, what to look for, and what kind of prices I was dealing with.

I quickly learned that there are a TON of different Deion Sanders cards. I mean, the guy played in both the NFL and MLB, so that makes sense. I found out his most sought-after rookie cards are from 1989 – the Pro Set, Score, and Topps Traded. Those are the big ones, apparently.
My Search Begins
Then, I found out that there are many different card condition. After research, I learned to look at the corners, edges, surface, and centering of the card. So I had to be careful about all of that stuff.
So, armed with this basic knowledge, I started looking around at online shops. I saw some crazy prices for graded cards (cards that have been professionally assessed for condition). We’re talking hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars, for a single card!
After a couple of days of looking, found a good website that sold Deion Sanders card. I focused on finding a 1989 Score Supplemental rookie card, that is a good starting point. The cards ranged from 2 dollars to thousands of dollars!
Make It Happen
- Checked the online store. Looked at pictures of the cards, read descriptions. Tried to find one in decent shape, even if it wasn’t perfect.
- Finally found one that was in decent conditon. After all the comparsion. I made my order.
- A few days later, It arrived! The card was safely packaged. Now it’s in a protective sleeve, and I’ve got it displayed. Pretty sweet!
I’m super proud of my card. It’s not in perfect condition, but It is a good card from the one of the best player in NFL history! I think I got the collecting bug now. Might start looking for some other players next, but for now, I’m happy with my Deion Sanders card. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way.
