Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into shape, and I heard about this Davis Boxing thing in DC. Sounded cool, right? Like, old-school boxing, not just some fancy fitness class. I figured, why not give it a shot?
First thing I did was try to find some info online. It wasn’t super easy, to be honest. Most of the stuff was, you know, scattered. I found some forum posts, and some general location stuff, and then, the location is pretty good, and I could actually get there without too much trouble.
Gearing Up (Or Not)
So, I didn’t really have any boxing gear. I mean, I had some old workout clothes, and that was about it. I figured I’d just wear those and see what the deal was. I packed a water bottle and a towel – gotta stay hydrated, you know?
Finding the Place
Getting there was easy. I arrived and, just walked in.
The First Workout (Brutal!)
Man, oh man, was I not prepared. I thought I was in decent shape, but this was a whole different level.
The coach, he was cool. Showed me some basic stances, how to throw a jab, a cross… the basics.
- Warm-up: We started with some jumping jacks, running in place, the usual stuff. It felt kinda intense, but manageable.
- Shadow Boxing: Then we did some shadow boxing. Basically, you’re punching the air, practicing your form. It looked easy, but my arms started burning pretty quick!
- Heavy Bag: I did a few rounds to hit the bags.
- Cool Down: Stretching to finish.
The whole thing lasted, like, an hour, maybe a bit more? By the end, I was completely wiped. I mean, dripping sweat, muscles aching, the works. But it felt…good. Like, I’d really accomplished something.
The Aftermath
I was sore for, like, three days after that. Seriously, even laughing hurt. But I kept going back. I got a good deal.

It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m still no pro, but I’m definitely getting better. My punches are getting stronger, my stamina is improving, and I actually feel…tougher. It’s not just about the physical stuff, either. It’s like, I’m more focused, more disciplined, in other areas of my life too.
So, yeah, that’s my Davis Boxing DC story so far. It’s been a rough start, but I’m sticking with it. If you’re looking for a real challenge, something that’ll push you to your limits, I’d say give it a shot. Just be prepared to sweat…a lot!
