Getting into the MLB The Show 24 Ratings
Alright, so the other day I finally got some time to really sit down with MLB The Show 24. First thing I always do, like probably a lot of you, is check out the player ratings. It’s just natural curiosity, right? See who’s up, who’s down, how my favorite team is looking.
So, I fired up the console and launched the game. Once I got to the main menu, I think I went straight into the roster section. It’s usually under team management or something similar. Took a second to find it, menus are always a bit different each year, you know?

Found my team, the Phillies, and started scrolling through. First thing I looked at was Bryce Harper, obviously. Checked his overall rating, then drilled down a bit. Looked at his power numbers, contact, fielding. Seemed about right, maybe a touch low on power versus righties initially, but hey, these things change.
Then I went through the pitching staff. Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola… compared their stats. Stamina, control, the specific pitch ratings. It’s interesting to see how the game tries to quantify this stuff. Sometimes you agree, sometimes you scratch your head a bit.
I spent a good while just clicking through different players, not just on my team. Checked out some of the big names around the league, like Ohtani, Judge, Acuña Jr. It’s always fun to see who got that coveted 99 overall rating, or who’s close.
Digging a Little Deeper
After just browsing, I started thinking about how these ratings actually work day-to-day. I remembered from past games that they usually do roster updates. So, I poked around online, just searching generally, you know, not looking at specific sites but just trying to get the gist.
Seems like they still do regular updates based on real-life performance. That’s good. It means the ratings I saw aren’t totally static. A guy gets hot for a couple of weeks, his rating might go up. Slumps, it goes down. Makes sense. Keeps the game fresh, especially if you play modes like Diamond Dynasty where those live series cards change.
- Checked main roster screens first.
- Compared key players on my favorite team.
- Looked at league leaders and top-rated players.
- Thought about how ratings change over time.
- Confirmed (through general searching) that regular updates happen.
So yeah, that was my initial dive into the player ratings for MLB The Show 24. It’s always a mix of agreeing with the devs and having your own opinions. But mostly, it looked pretty solid. It definitely gets you thinking about player performance and how it translates into the game. Now I feel a bit more prepped for starting my Franchise mode or building my Diamond Dynasty squad. Just gotta remember those ratings will shift! Always keeps you on your toes.
