Okay, so yesterday I tried to do this “golf coins” thing. I didn’t really know what it was, so I kinda just jumped right in.
First, I grabbed a bunch of coins from my change jar. Mostly quarters, some dimes, and a few nickels. I figured more coins meant more chances, right?

My Setup (Pretty Basic)
- Coins: Like I said, mostly quarters.
- “Hole”: I just used a regular drinking glass.
- Course: My kitchen table. Very flat, very smooth.
I started by placing the glass at one end of the table. Then I stood at the other end, trying to flick the coins into the glass. Sounds easy, but it wasn’t.
My first few tries? Total fails. The coins either went flying way off course or landed nowhere near the glass. I quickly realized that the amount of force was key. Too much, and the coin’s gone. Too little, and it doesn’t even get close.
I spent a good hour just practicing. Flicking, adjusting my grip, changing the angle. Slowly, I started to get a feel for it. I noticed that a smooth, quick flick worked best. A little backspin seemed to help too, though I’m not sure why.
After a while, I managed to sink a few! It’s super satisfying when you hear that clink of the coin hitting the bottom of the glass. I even got a couple of dimes in, which felt like a major achievement because they’re so small.
By the end, my fingers were a little sore, and the table was covered in scuff marks (sorry, Mom!). But I had a lot of fun. It’s a simple game, but it takes practice and a bit of skill.
It felt a lot more rewarding than just getting coins.

I think the game is played with another person. You each select a coin and take turn. It sounds like a fun drinking game too.
I definitely want to try this again, maybe with some friends. We could even set up a mini-course with obstacles and stuff. That would be awesome!
