Alright, let’s talk about this * lawsuit thing. I heard folks are all riled up about somethin’ called a “privacy lawsuit.” Sounds fancy, huh? Don’t you worry, I’ll break it down for ya like I’m tellin’ you ’bout the price of eggs at the market.
So, this fella, Bryan Henry, from Redondo Beach, California, he’s kickin’ up a fuss. He pays for *, you know, that thing where you watch baseball games on your computer or your phone. Well, he says MLB ain’t playin’ fair with his information. They call it “data privacy,” but to me, it just sounds like they’re peekin’ where they shouldn’t be.
They got this fancy law, the Video Privacy Protection Act, or VPPA for short. Sounds important. This law says them folks at * can’t just go around sharin’ what you’re watchin’ with whoever they please. It’s like if I told everyone at the church what you bought at the store last week. Just ain’t right, is it?
Now, Mr. Henry, he says MLB, or rather this “Major League Baseball Advanced Media” group, which sounds like a bunch of city slickers to me, well, he says they broke that VPPA law. He filed a lawsuit, a big ol’ complaint, 23 pages long! Can you believe it? That’s more paper than I use to line my chicken coop for a whole year.
This lawsuit, they call it “Henry v. Major League Baseball Advanced Media LP.” Sounds all legal and whatnot. Case number 1:24-cv-01446, if you care about that sort of thing. I sure don’t.
From what I gather, *, it’s like a club. You pay your money, and you get to watch baseball games. They even got deals with big companies like Apple. Heard Apple paid a whole heap of money, millions and millions, to show these games. But that ain’t the problem here. The problem is, * is supposedly snoopin’ around too much.
Now, they say if you ain’t happy with *, you can get your money back. But this ain’t about the money, see? It’s about respect. It’s about them city slickers keepin’ their noses outta your business. You pay for baseball, you get baseball. You don’t pay for them to be nosy neighbors.
This whole “class action” business, that’s somethin’ else. Sounds like a bunch of folks gettin’ together to fight the same fight. But you gotta jump in before it’s all over. It ain’t like waitin’ for the last minute to grab the last piece of pie at the church supper. If you wait too long, you miss out.
So, what’s gonna happen? Well, I ain’t got a crystal ball, but it sounds like a whole lotta legal mumbo jumbo. Lawyers talkin’, judges listenin’, and in the end, somebody’s gonna owe somebody some money, or maybe they’ll just tell * to stop bein’ so nosey. Either way, it’s a big to-do.
I tell ya, back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy technology. We listened to the baseball games on the radio, and nobody knew what you were listenin’ to unless you told ’em. Maybe things were simpler then. But then again, we didn’t have baseball on our phones neither.
Anyhow, that’s the gist of it. This * lawsuit, it’s about keepin’ your business your business. And that’s somethin’ I can understand. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens. They’re probably gossiping about me, them little cluckers.
