Okay, so I’ve been hitting the gym lately, right? And I thought, why not mix things up a bit? I decided to try both boxing and baseball. Sounds random, I know, but let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride.
First off, I started with boxing. I walked into this boxing gym, gloves on, feeling all tough. The coach showed me the basics—jab, cross, hook, uppercut. Sounds easy, yeah? Nah, it’s not. I spent the first few sessions just trying to get the hang of the footwork and how to throw a proper punch without falling over. It was humbling, to say the least.

Then, I started sparring. That’s where the real fun began. The coach told me, “Focus on defense!” So, I worked on moving my head, slipping, and bobbing. But let me tell you, it’s way harder than it looks. I got tagged a few times, but hey, that’s part of the learning process, I guess.
- Jab: Quick, straight punch.
- Cross: Punch across the body.
- Hook: Punch in a semi-circle.
- Uppercut: Punch upwards.
After a few weeks of boxing, I thought, “Let’s swing a bat!” So, I headed to the baseball field. Now, I hadn’t played baseball since I was a kid, so I was basically starting from scratch. I grabbed a bat, stood in the batter’s box, and tried to hit the ball.
Man, hitting a baseball is tough! The first few swings, I completely missed. The ball whizzed right past me. The coach gave me some tips on my stance and how to keep my eye on the ball. I practiced and practiced, and slowly but surely, I started making contact. It wasn’t pretty, but it was progress.
My Baseball Routine
- Batting practice: Lots and lots of swings.
- Fielding drills: Catching grounders and fly balls.
- Throwing: working on that arm.
I still ain’t great at baseball, and my boxing skills are far from perfect, but I’m having a blast. I am getting a good workout, and it’s way more fun than just lifting weights. Plus, it’s kinda cool to say I’m learning to box and play baseball at the same time. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be good at both. Or maybe I’ll just be a sweaty mess. Either way, it’s all good.
