So, I’ve been hooked on MLB The Show lately, right? It’s a blast, but you know what’s even more fun? The crazy player names you stumble upon. I swear, some of these names are so out there, they make you do a double-take.
I remember one time, I was playing, and this guy named Roosevelt Cherry comes up to bat. I mean, come on, that’s just awesome. But it got me thinking, there’s gotta be more of these gems out there. So, I started digging around, asking people online about the most ridiculous names they’ve encountered.
Somebody told me about this guy, Triceratops Spooneybarger. Now, that’s a mouthful! I couldn’t even find the audio for that one, which was a bummer, ’cause I bet it’s hilarious. Another person mentioned a player named Peter Queen. I mean, it’s simple, but it’s just so random and funny in a baseball game.
Then, of course, I had to try making my own crazy names. It’s super easy, by the way. You just go into the ‘Options’ menu, then ‘Player Profile,’ and boom, you can change your name to whatever you want. I spent way too long just messing around with different names, trying to come up with the most outrageous ones. I started with some normal names then I decided to give the player a really long name.

- John Smith
- Michael Jordan
- Christian Encarnacion-Strand
Also, I found out that there is a baseball player with the longest name in history! Christian Encarnacion-Strand. I even tried to change my player’s name to “Coco”, and it worked, I think someone’s sister teased him that he looked like one of the characters on the Cocoa Krispies cereal box.

I even tried searching online for funny baseball team names, and let me tell you, there are some real winners out there. I’m talking about puns, wordplay, you name it. It’s a whole world of silly names that just adds to the fun of the game. Some of the best names I found are:

- Game of Throws
All in all, it’s these little things that make MLB The Show such a blast to play. Sure, the gameplay is great, but it’s the unexpected moments, like coming across a player with a name that makes you burst out laughing, that really stick with you.
