Okay, so I saw these “anime golf balls” trending and thought, “Why not?” I’m no pro golfer, but I do enjoy a casual round, and, well, I’m a bit of an anime fan. So, I decided to try making some myself!
First, I grabbed a pack of plain white golf balls. Nothing fancy, just the standard ones. The crucial part was getting the right kind of markers. I’ve learned from past craft fails that regular Sharpies tend to bleed and smudge, especially on smooth surfaces.

I went with some fine-tipped, permanent, paint-based markers.I found a set online with a bunch of * looked perfect.
Next up: the design. I didn’t want anything too complicated, so I picked some simple anime eyes. Easier said than done, even simple designs need a bit of planning.I practiced drawing the eyes on paper * many * I felt like I can do a half-decent job.
Once I felt ready, I took a deep breath and started drawing directly onto the golf balls. It was tricky! The curved surface made it tough to keep the lines straight, and I had to be super careful not to smudge the wet paint.
- First ball: Total mess. Smudged everywhere.
- Second ball: Slightly better, but the eyes looked wonky.
- Third ball: Okay, this one’s passable! I managed to get the eyes somewhat symmetrical.
I kept going, and after a few more tries, I had a half-dozen golf balls with anime eyes staring back at me. They weren’t perfect, but hey, they were unique!
To finish them off, I sprayed the balls with a clear sealant. This was to protect the paint and make them a bit more durable against the rough and tumble of a golf game.I’m not sure sealant is useful, but I did it anyway.
The Result?
My DIY anime golf balls! They’re definitely not going to win any art awards, but they’re fun, personalized, and guaranteed to get a few laughs on the golf course. And if I lose a few in the rough, well, at least I had fun making * next time I’ll be brave and try a full character face. Or maybe not.
