Man, pitching in MLB The Show 24 was kicking my butt hard until I figured out these camera tricks. Started out using that default behind-the-pitcher view everybody runs with, kept hanging curveballs and missing spots.
The Experiment Begins
So I dove into camera settings like a crazy person, switching views every inning. Tried that zoomed-out broadcast angle first – total mess, couldn’t see pitch meter clearly at all. Then tested pitcher offset – felt weirdly tilted, like throwing sideways.
Next up was Catcher High view. Finally saw the batter’s stance properly but holy crap, the meter felt microscopic. Nearly spiked my controller when that 12-6 curveball bounced halfway to home plate.
The Sweet Spot
Outta desperation, I mashed random buttons and found it: Pitcher Zoom. Game changer instantly. Lets you see:
- Full strike zone crystal clear
- Batter’s little twitches before swing
- Pitch meter BIG like a highway sign
Practice mode became my best friend. Threw 200 fastballs just watching how the ball left my pitcher’s hand in this view. Noticed catchers give subtle glove taps too – easy to spot now.
Execution Matters
Now here’s the kicker – camera alone ain’t magic. Had to adjust my timing:
- Start meter pull BEFORE windup completes
- Watch pitcher’s release point like a hawk
- Ignore crowd noise completely
Checked stats after switching – opponent batting average dropped .120 points in ranked games. No more meatballs down the middle. That changeup actually fools people now since I spot the batter leaning early.
Still blows my mind how many folks ignore camera settings. Took my ERA from little league to Cy Young territory by changing one stupid menu option. Give it five innings – you’ll never go back.
