Alright, folks, settle in. Today, I wanted to talk about a little quest I’ve been on, something that’s taken up a fair bit of my gaming time lately. I’m talking about getting what I’d call a ‘god roll’ Vision of Confluence. Yeah, that old-school scout rifle. You know the one – it’s a Legendary, does Solar damage, and you only get it from wrestling with Atheon at the end of the Vault of Glass. A real Year 1 classic, if you ask me.
The Chase Was On
So, I decided I really wanted a good one. Not just any Vision of Confluence, but the one. The kind that just feels right, you know? This meant running the Vault. A lot. I mean, I jumped in there, cleared out the Oracles, navigated the Gorgon’s Labyrinth – the whole nine yards. Week after week, I’d gather my fireteam, or sometimes just jump in with randoms, hoping this would be the run.

Honestly, there were times I thought I was just wasting my time. You do these runs, you beat Atheon, and sometimes you get… well, not much. Or you get another piece of armor you’ve already got a pile of. It’s the nature of the beast, I guess. You just gotta keep at it. I’d tell myself, “Okay, one more try. Maybe this time.” I’d check every Vision that dropped, looking at the perks, feeling a bit let down when it wasn’t quite what I was after.
Finally, Pay Dirt!
Then, a couple of nights ago, it happened. We were doing a pretty smooth run, actually. Everyone knew their roles, Atheon went down without too much fuss. The usual loot pops up, and there it is – another Vision of Confluence. I almost didn’t even check it with much excitement, just out of habit. But then I hovered over it.
I started looking at the perks. And I was like, “Hold on a second.” It had a couple of things I was really hoping for. Stuff that just clicks together, making the gun feel super responsive and hit hard. I’m talking about things like:
- A perk that helps with stability, keeping it nice and steady.
- And another that gives me a bit more punch or maybe helps with reloading faster.
It just… it was the combination. The one I’d been picturing in my head. It wasn’t some mythical, impossible roll, just a really solid, practical set of perks that work well for how I play. That’s what a ‘god roll’ means to me, anyway. Something that’s perfect for you.
Was It Worth It?
So, yeah, I finally got it. After all those attempts, all those times opening the chest and seeing something else, I got my Vision of Confluence. And you know what? It felt pretty good. There’s a certain satisfaction in setting a goal in these games and finally achieving it, especially when it’s down to pure luck sometimes.
I’ve been using it a bit since, and it performs just like I hoped. It’s a reliable workhorse, that Solar damage is handy, and it just feels good to shoot. It’s not going to magically make me a better player or anything, but it’s a nice tool to have in the arsenal, and it’s got that little story behind it for me now. Every time I equip it, I’ll remember the grind. And that’s pretty cool.
So, that’s my little adventure with the Vision of Confluence. Sometimes the old gear is still the best, especially when you finally get it with the perks you want. Keep chasing those rolls, folks!
