Getting into NFL Scrub Tops
So, yeah, NFL scrub tops. It sounds kinda specific, right? But work clothes can be boring, and I figured, why not spice things up a bit? I ended up needing some scrubs, not for a hospital job like you might think, but for something totally different.
Finding them wasn’t super hard, honestly. Jumped online, typed it in. A bunch of places popped up. Some looked kinda cheap, others a bit more official-like. I mostly stuck to the bigger online stores that sell medical wear, figured they’d be legit. It was more about picking the right team, you know? Gotta represent.

- Checked a few different sites.
- Compared prices and styles (some are V-neck, some aren’t).
- Read some reviews, mostly about fit and fabric.
- Finally landed on one for my team – the mighty Eagles! Go Birds!
When the package arrived, I ripped it open. The fabric felt okay, pretty standard scrub material, maybe a little stiff at first. The Eagles logo was decent, not some cheap iron-on that looked like it would peel after one wash. The fit was alright, maybe a little boxy, but scrubs usually are, aren’t they? No fashion show here.
Wearing Them Out in the Wild (Sort Of)
Now, the wearing part. Like I said, not for a hospital. I actually started volunteering at this local animal shelter. Long story short, I’d completely burned out from my old desk job – staring at spreadsheets, endless meetings about nothing. Just drained me. I quit without much of a plan, which maybe wasn’t the smartest move financially, but mentally? Felt necessary.
Anyway, my neighbor, Sarah, works at the shelter and knew I was at loose ends. She suggested volunteering. Said they always needed help, mostly cleaning cages, walking dogs, that kind of stuff. Stuff that gets messy. Hence, the need for scrubs. I saw the NFL ones and thought, “Okay, that’s kinda funny, wearing a football jersey scrub top to clean up after cats.” It felt like a little piece of my old weekend-watching-football self in this completely new, slightly weird situation.
The scrubs held up fine. Washed them a bunch, the logo stayed put, the color didn’t fade too badly. They were comfortable enough for moving around, bending down, getting covered in who-knows-what. It was actually kind of a conversation starter sometimes. Another volunteer was a Cowboys fan, so we had some laughs about that. Even some folks coming in to adopt would comment on it. It was just this simple piece of clothing, but it made the volunteering feel a bit more… me.
It’s funny how things work out. Leaving that soul-sucking job felt like the end of the world at the time. I spent weeks just moping, honestly. My wife was patient, but you could tell she was worried. Then Sarah suggested the shelter, and I almost said no. Seemed like a step down, you know? From an office with my name on the door (okay, cubicle) to cleaning kennels. But wearing that silly Eagles scrub top, weirdly, helped bridge the gap. It was familiar. And doing something totally different, something physical and maybe even useful, started to pull me out of that funk.
So, the NFL scrub tops? They’re fine. They work like any other scrub top. But for me, it ended up being tied to this whole transition period. A small, kinda goofy reminder that you can bring bits of your old life into the new one, even if that new life involves more dog hair than data entry.
