Okay, so I’ve been kinda getting back into baseball cards lately. Not like hardcore or anything, just picking up stuff I like. I was flipping through some cards the other day and came across this series, the “Stars of MLB” set. Looked pretty neat.
Right away, I decided I wanted to find the Bryce Harper card from that set. I’ve always liked watching him play, you know, the energy he brings. Figured it would be a cool one to have.

Starting the Search
So, the hunt began. First place I looked was online, obviously. Scrolled through pages on those big marketplace sites. Saw a bunch of Harper cards, loads of them, but not the specific “Stars of MLB” one I was after. Or if I did see it, the price was kinda silly, or the seller looked sketchy.
Next, I tried a couple of local card shops.
- The first shop had a ton of new packs, but not much in terms of singles from that particular older set.
- The second shop was better for older stuff, but the owner said he hadn’t seen that specific Harper card come through in a while.
It was getting a little annoying, honestly. You see the card in pictures online, you know it exists, but actually getting your hands on it is another story.
Finally Finding It
Then, last Saturday, I was at this flea market just browsing around, not really expecting much. One stall had boxes and boxes of cards, mostly commons and stuff people just wanted to get rid of. I was just digging through a box marked “Baseball Stars $1 each” mostly out of habit.
And guess what? Bam! There it was. The Bryce Harper Stars of MLB card. Just sitting there, sandwiched between a couple of players I didn’t even recognize. Couldn’t believe it, really. It wasn’t in perfect mint condition, maybe a tiny bit of white on one corner, but who cares?
Felt awesome finding it like that, totally unexpected. Much better than just clicking “buy now” online. Handed the guy a buck, and it was mine.

Got the Card
So yeah, brought it home, gave it a little wipe down with a soft cloth. It looks cool. Nice photo of Harper on it. It’s not some super rare, expensive card, I know that. But finding the specific one you’re looking for after a bit of a search? That feels good.
It’s now sitting nicely in my binder with some other Phillies stuff and players I like. Just happy to have finally tracked down that Bryce Harper Stars of MLB card. Mission accomplished, you know?
