Okay, so I’ve been meaning to shake up my workout routine, and I kept hearing about kickboxing. I live in Omaha, so I figured, “Why not give ‘kickboxing omaha’ a shot?” It sounded intense, but in a good way, you know?
First thing I did was hit up the internet. Typed in “kickboxing omaha,” and boom, a bunch of places popped up. I’m not gonna lie, it was a little overwhelming at first. So many gyms, so many different styles. I spent a good hour just clicking around, reading reviews, looking at pictures. It all felt like a blur.

Finding the Right Place
I finally narrowed it down to a few places that seemed promising. One had a really cool vibe, looked like they had some serious trainers. Another one was closer to my place, which is always a plus. And then there was this third one that had a free introductory class. Free is always good, right?
I decided to call the place with the free intro class first. Gotta test the waters, see if it’s even something I’d be into. The guy on the phone was super chill, answered all my questions, didn’t pressure me at all. I booked the intro session for Saturday morning.
The First Class
Saturday rolled around, and I was kinda nervous. I mean, I haven’t thrown a punch since, like, elementary school playground fights. But I put on my workout gear, grabbed a water bottle, and headed out.
The place was buzzing when I got there. Music pumping, people sweating, the whole nine yards. The instructor, a woman named Sarah, was awesome. She was tough, but also really encouraging. She showed us the basics – jabs, crosses, hooks, kicks. It was a lot to take in, but she broke it down really well.
I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, I was a mess. My coordination was all over the place. I kept mixing up my left and right. And the kicks? Let’s just say I wasn’t exactly graceful. But you know what? Everyone else was kinda struggling too, which made me feel a lot better.
- Jab: Felt awkward at first, but started to get the hang of it.
- Cross: This one felt powerful, once I figured out the hip rotation.
- Hook: Still working on this one. My arm keeps dropping.
- Kicks: Definitely need more practice. My balance is terrible.
The Aftermath
By the end of the class, I was drenched in sweat. My muscles were screaming. But I also felt…amazing. Like I’d really accomplished something. It was a total rush.
I signed up for a few more classes. I’m still a beginner, obviously, but I’m already feeling stronger and more confident. It’s a great workout, a great stress reliever, and honestly, it’s just plain fun. If you find a good studio, it’s a blast.

So, yeah, that’s my “kickboxing omaha” journey so far. Still a long way to go, but I’m definitely hooked. I’ll try to keep updating as I go, if anyone actually cares! Maybe I’ll even get good at those kicks someday.
