Okay, so I wanted to figure out this whole position-switching thing in MLB The Show 24. I’d heard some chatter online, but I needed to see it for myself. So, I fired up the game and went straight into a regular game. I figured that’d be the easiest place to mess around.
Getting Started
First, I picked a team – went with the Dodgers, because, why not? – Mookie Betts seemed like a good guy to test this with. I hit the “Play Ball!” Option and get into the game, ready to do some experiments.

Experimenting Mid-Game
Once the game started,I wanted to swap Mookie Betts, so I paused the game and go to my lineup.
- I select Mookie Betts.
- Choose “Subtitute”.
- Select the player I want to use in Right Fielder.
- I can select Betts’ new position on the field.
It worked! That’s awesome, I can change a player positions during the game.
Trying it in Other Modes
Then I got curious. Would this work in other modes, like Franchise or Road to the Show? I hopped into Franchise mode, started a new season, and yep, the same basic steps applied. I could fiddle with my lineup before the game, even set up different defensive schemes.
Final thought
So, yeah, you can totally switch positions in MLB The Show 24. It’s pretty straightforward once you find the right menus. It is cool for mixing things up and trying out new strategies. Also, I found that it is important to check player’s secondary position before switching, it will be a lot easier for him, if he already knows how to play in that postion.
