Alright, so I finally dragged myself to that kickboxing class in Denver I’d been eyeing for weeks. Honestly, I’ve been feeling kinda sluggish lately, and my regular gym routine just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I needed something to shake things up, you know? So I booked a trial class at this place downtown, the one with the awesome murals on the walls.
Getting Started
First off, finding the place was a bit of a mission. It’s tucked away in one of those artsy industrial buildings, but once I spotted it, I knew I was in the right spot. Walked in, and the energy was already buzzing. People were wrapping their hands, some were hitting the bags, and the music was pumping. I checked in at the front desk, and the lady was super friendly. She gave me the lowdown on where to change and introduced me to the instructor, a guy named Marco.

The Class
Marco, man, this guy was intense, but in a good way. He could tell I was a newbie, so he showed me the basic punches and kicks. Jab, cross, hook, uppercut – the whole shebang. Then we got into some kicking drills, which, let me tell you, was a whole other level of coordination. We practiced roundhouse kicks, front kicks, and even some sidekicks. My legs were burning within minutes!
- Started with a warm-up – lots of jumping jacks, high knees, and burpees.
- Then moved on to some shadow boxing, just getting used to the movements.
- Marco paired us up with partners, and we took turns holding pads for each other.
- The main part of the class was hitting the heavy bags. That’s where the real sweat started pouring.
- We finished with some core work, which was brutal after all that kicking.
My Thoughts
Honestly, by the end of the class, I was completely wiped out. But it was that good kind of exhaustion, you know? Like I’d actually accomplished something. My whole body was aching, especially my legs and core, but I felt amazing. I definitely pushed myself harder than I have in a while. I think the group setting really helped. Everyone was encouraging each other, and there was a real sense of camaraderie. It was such a good time that I decided to sign up for a membership. And maybe I’ll go back to the gym for some more exercises next week.
I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty sore the next day, but it was a good sore. I can already tell this is gonna be a great way to get in shape and relieve some stress. If you’re looking for a fun, challenging workout, I highly recommend giving kickboxing a try. Especially if you’re in Denver, you gotta check this place out!
