Today I’m gonna tell you about my little adventure trying out kickboxing here in Cincinnati. I’ve always been curious about it, and seeing all those action movies got me thinking, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I started by looking up places around town that offered kickboxing classes.
I found a few gyms and studios that looked promising, with good reviews and all. I decided to check out this one place that was not too far from my neighborhood. They had a beginner’s class, which was perfect for me because I’m a complete newbie at this.

I called them up to get some info, like class times and what I needed to bring. The guy on the phone was super friendly and answered all my questions. He told me to just come in comfortable workout clothes, and they’d provide the gloves and other gear for the first few sessions.
First Day
So, the day came, and I headed to the gym. I was a bit nervous, not gonna lie. I walked in, and the place was buzzing with energy. People were punching bags, jumping rope, and doing all sorts of exercises. I checked in at the front desk and met the instructor. He was a big, muscular guy, but really chill and welcoming.
The class started with some warm-ups. We did some jogging, stretching, and basic punches and kicks in the air. It was tiring, but fun. Then, we got into the real deal – hitting the bags. The instructor showed us some basic combos, like jab-cross-hook, and how to throw kicks properly. I tried my best to follow along, but man, it was harder than it looked! My arms and legs were burning, but I kept pushing.
- First, I learned the basic stance.
- Then, we practiced jabs and crosses.
- After that, we moved on to hooks and uppercuts.
- Finally, we tried some roundhouse kicks.
Getting the Hang of It
After a few classes, I started to get the hang of it. I felt more coordinated, and my punches and kicks became more powerful. I even made some friends in the class. We encouraged each other and shared tips. It was a great feeling to be part of a community.
I kept going to classes regularly, about three times a week. I noticed I was getting stronger and more fit. My stamina improved, and I could do more reps without getting too tired. Plus, it was a great stress reliever. After a long day, hitting those bags really helped me unwind.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, my kickboxing experience in Cincinnati has been awesome. I learned a lot, got in better shape, and met some cool people. It’s definitely something I’ll keep doing. If you’re in Cincinnati and thinking about trying kickboxing, I highly recommend giving it a go. It’s a great workout and a lot of fun!
So, that’s my kickboxing journey so far. It’s been a blast, and I’m excited to see how much more I can improve. Maybe one day I’ll even be able to do those fancy spinning kicks like in the movies! Who knows? But for now, I’m just enjoying the process and having a good time.
