Okay, so I’ve always been a huge tennis fan, right? And I’ve always wondered how it would feel like to smash a serve that’s just insanely fast. I mean, the pros make it look so easy, but believe me, it’s a whole different ball game when you’re the one trying to do it.
So, I decided to give it a shot. I started by watching a ton of videos online, just trying to pick up any tips or tricks I could. Then, I headed down to the local courts. First, I just practiced my toss, over and over again. I needed to get it consistent, high enough, and slightly in front of me. You know, just like the pros do.

My practice
-
Toss the ball: I must toss it high and slightly in front.
-
Swing hard: It’s not just about arm strength, you gotta use your whole body.
-
Hit flat: I tried to hit the ball as flat as possible, no spin.
Next up was the swing itself. It’s not just about arm strength, let me tell you. I tried to really use my whole body, rotating my shoulders and using my legs for power. I focused on hitting the ball at its highest point, trying to drive through it rather than just slap it.
Man, it was tough! My first few serves were all over the place. Some went into the net, others sailed way out of bounds. My shoulder started to ache, and I was getting pretty frustrated. But I kept at it, telling myself that practice makes perfect.
I started to see some improvement after a while. My serves were getting faster, and a few even landed in the service box. I even managed to get a few aces past my buddy who was kind enough to practice with me. He was like, “Whoa, where did that come from?”
I kept practicing for weeks, trying to refine my technique. I even bought one of those radar guns to measure my serve speed. It was pretty cool to see the numbers go up, even if it was just a little bit at a time. I wouldn’t say I broke any world records, but I definitely hit some of the fastest serves I’ve ever hit in my life.

It was a fun experiment, and I learned a lot about the mechanics of a good serve. It’s way more complicated than it looks. And yeah, I have a newfound respect for those pro players who can consistently hit serves over 130 mph. Maybe I’ll never get there, but I’m definitely going to keep trying!
